Madison Winkler went 2-for-3 with a run scored, double and two RBI to lead Southeast Missouri (8-20, 4-5) to a 7-2 win over Tennessee State (0-22, 0-10) Saturday at the Southeast Softball Complex.
As a team, SEMO had five doubles in the game, its first on its home field exactly 50 days into the 2026 season.
The Redhawks struck early with four runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back en route to their second-straight win.
With one out and the bases loaded,
Addy Martinie singled to right and Winkler scored the first run of the contest.
Raigan Brannon followed with a bases clearing double to put SEMO ahead, 4-0.
TSU cut the Redhawks lead in half after scoring once in both the second and third innings.
SEMO then countered with three unanswered runs to finish off its series opening victory.
Lily Delmain scored on a TSU error in the bottom of the fourth and Winkler knocked in two runs on a double to center in the sixth.
Maddie Carney (3-8) pitched her fourth complete game of the season. Carney allowed just two runs (both unearned) on five hits and recorded a season-best five strikeouts in seven innings.
Tianna Salcido (0-7) took the loss. Salcido exited the game after giving up four runs on three hits and walking one in only one-third of an inning.
SEMO outhit TSU, 10-5.
Brittany Affolter went 2-for-3 with a run scored as the Redhawks other multi-hit performer.
SEMO and TSU close out their series with a 12 p.m., CT doubleheader Sunday.
