
Redhawks Head to Indianapolis for the 2025 Indoor Ohio Valley Conference Championship

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State track & field will head to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete in the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion. The event will be Tuesday, February 25, through Wednesday, February 26.
The meet begins at 9:00 a.m on both Tuesday and Wednesday with the heptathlon and pentathlon.
On Tuesday the field events are scheduled for 12:00 p.m and the running events are slated for 2:40 p.m.
On Wednesday the field events begin at 11:00 a.m with the high jump and at 12:30 p.m the running events begin with the men's mile.
The awards presentation is slotted for 4:00 p.m on Wednesday
Records Broken
Anna Thomason broke the pentathlon record at Indiana Early Bird Invite then broke it again at the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite. The junior broke her own record of 3643 points with a new point total of 3734. During the pentathlon she also broke the SEMO 60m hurdle record with a time of 8.50, breaking the former record of 8.61 set by Brianna Dixon at the 2024 OVC Championship.
Nick Cimmarusti crossed the line at 8:33.92 to break the SEMO Student Recreation center 3000m record at the Redhawks Invite. The record was previously held by Nick Happe of Arizona State with a time of 8:38:00.
At the Dr. Rick McGuire Invite Noah Little and Cimmarusti both broke the 3000m record of 8:17.40 set by Brian Radle in 1989. Little set the new record with an 8:16.08 while Cimmarusti finished with an ending time of 8:16.58.
Paden Lewis set a new SEMO overall record in shot put, throwing for a huge 62' 6" mark. Lewis beat his own indoor record of 61' 1.5" set earlier this season and beat the outdoor record of 62' 1.25" set by Kevin Farley in 2017. This also set a new record for the SEMO Student Recreation Center, formerly held by Kevin Farley of 61' 7.75".
Team Rankings
The Southeast Missouri men's track and field team is ranked 87th in the nation with 3.31 points coming from Paden Lewis' weight throw mark of 74' 6.25" (22.71m).
The team is ranked 16th in the Midwest Region with 43.13 total points and second in the conference with 569.62 points behind Little Rock in first with 657.07 points.
The men's squad teams that are ranked in the top 50 in the nation are the high jump team (50th), long jump team (22nd), pole vault team (38th), shot put team (46th) and the weight throw team (28th).
The women's team is ranked 144th in the nation, 24th in the Midwest Region with 12.80 total points and first in the OVC with 522.66 points, 105 points ahead of second.
The women's squad teams that are ranked in the top 50 in the nation is the weight throw team, ranking 28th.

At the end of the indoor track season the top 16 performers from each event make it to the NCAA Indoor Championship. The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the Division One schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.
Southeast has 13 marks ranked in the top 50 of the country, 16 marks ranked in the top 25 of the Midwest Region, 12 marks ranked first in the OVC and 45 marks in the top five in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Paden Lewis threw for distances of 62' 6" and 74' 6.25" in the shot put and weight throw to rank 22nd and 15th in the NCAA, fifth in the Midwest region and first in the OVC in both events. The senior achieved the shot put at the Redhawks Open and the weight throw at the Show-Me Showdown.
In the men's and women's 55m Dominic Revels ranks seventh (6.32), Cole Bruenderman 28th (6.46), Breanna Miles 12th (7.18), Alaina Lester 19th (7.23), and Sydney Burdine 45th (7.33) in the NCAA. They all achieved this at the Redhawks Invite and Redhawks Open.
In the men's and women's 55m hurdles Marcus Gordon ranks 23rd (7.82), Luis Schadlich ranks 31st (7.97), Brianna Dixon ranks third (8.08), Anna Thomason ranks seventh (8.13), Megan Aubuchon ranks 27th (8.53), and Clara Billing ranks 30th (8.59). They all achieved this at the Redhawks Invite and Redhawks Open.
Revels ranks 20th in the Midwest region in the 60m with a time of 6.80.
Miles ranks first in the conference in the 60m, crossing the line at 7.60. The senior also posted a time of 24.20 in the 200-meter for 18th in the region and first in the OVC.
Thomason notched 3734 total points to rank 19th regionally, and first in the OVC in the pentathlon. Thomason also has a time of 8.50 in the 60m hurdles, ranking 16th in the region
and first in the OVC.
In the women's 4x400 Miles, Sydney Burdine, Erika Mellor, and Laila Hardin are ranked 22nd in the region with a time of 3:51.83.
In the men's 4x400 Primeau, Anderson, Splitt, and Reinders are ranked 24th in the region with a time of 3:20.12.
The distance medley relay team of Reinders, Louis Primeau, Justin Splitt, and Byron Sowerby ranks 12th in the Midwest region with a time of 10:15.86.
The distance medley relay team of Lauren Eftink, Mattea Pearsall, Laila Hardin, and Layla Fliege ranks 12th in the region and first in the conference with a time of 12:24.08.
Dixon cleared a height of 5' 7.25" to be ranked first in the conference in the high jump.
Tanner Koontz vaulted over a height of 16' 6.5" to be ranked 20th in the region and first in the OVC and Sullivan Gleason ranks 21st regionally (16' 4.75").
Billing cleared a height of 13' 6.25" to rank 15th in the Midwest region and first in the OVC in the pole vault.
Kenyon Johnson ranks 14th in the region in the long jump with a distance of 24' 4.25" and seventh in the region, and first in OVC in triple jump with a mark of 50' 8.25".
Makenzie Williams is ranked 21st in the region and first in the OVC in women's weight throw with a distance of 63' 8.75".
Athletes of the Week
Five Redhawk athletes claimed Ohio Valley Conference Weekly Honors for their performances at the Redhawks Open this past weekend.
Dixon claimed OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this season. The Illinois native crossed the line at 8.08 to take first in the 55m hurdle event for a new personal best that ranks second in the country.
Lewis won OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the seventh time. The senior thrower broke the overall SEMO shot put record with a distance of 73' 2.50", ranking first in the OVC and 22nd in the NCAA. Lewis also won the weight throw event after throwing for a mark of 62' 6", ranking third in the SEMO record books.
Williams tabbed OVC Female Field athlete of the week after achieving personal bests in the weight throw (63' 8.75") and shot put (42' 1.50"). The graduate student placed first in the weight throw, ranking first in the OVC and 78th in the NCAA and fourth in SEMO records. Her shot put mark ranks eighth in the conference.
Revels notched OVC Male Freshman of the Week for the second time in his young Redhawk career. Revels placed second in the 55m besting seven other athletes with a finishing time of 6.54.
Lester took home OVC Female Freshman of the Week Honors after running in her first 55m event. Lester, a member of the SEMO volleyball team, placed second in the event with a time of 7.23 that ranks 19th in the NCAA.
Looking Ahead
After the championships conclude the qualifying Redhawks will take on the NCAA Indoor Championship in Virginia Beach, Va. March 14-15.
