Trip to the Desert
SEMO Women's Basketball is coming off a two-day tournament in Tempe, Arizona hosted by Arizona State. The Redhawks squared off with Arizona State and San Diego, respectively, last Saturday and Sunday at Desert Financial Arena. SEMO fell to Arizona State on Saturday evening by a final score of 85-56 behind Carmen Taylor's career-high 21 points. The Redhawks then took on San Diego on Sunday morning, falling by a final score of 65-55. Lexi McCully led the Redhawks with 17 points as SEMO concluded the Thanksgiving Tournament MTE.

Do It All
Graduate guard Raissa Nsabua did a little bit of everything over the two matchups this past weekend. Nsabua dished out seven assists, hauled in 11 rebounds, and scored 13 points in two games in Arizona. She is averaging 6.0 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 4.8 APG through five games this season.

Leading Scorer
Lexi McCully extended her double-digit point streak to nine games dating back to the 2024-25 season. McCully scored 15 against Arizona State and 17 against San Diego this past weekend. She currently ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in scoring at 16.3 PPG and has scored 15 or more points in each game this season. Mia Nicastro of Western Illinois leads the conference at 25.0 PPG.

More Blocks
Center Ainaya Williams extended her streak to 14 games with at least a block this past weekend, recording two against Arizona State and a single block against San Diego. She has now recorded a block in 14-straight games for the Redhawks dating back to last season. Williams leads the OVC in blocks with 12, averaging 2.0 blocks per game.

On Fire
Guard Carmen Taylor was on fire against Arizona State finishing the game with 21 points in 32 minutes of game time. Taylor recorded all 21 points from behind the three-point line, finishing 7-13 from deep. Her seven three pointers marked a SEMO career best surpassing her previous high of five against Wichita State (11/18). She is shooting 38.6-percent from three-point land in five games.

Three-Straight Starts
Freshman Zoey Rixter, who began the year coming off the bench the first three games, has now made three consecutive starts for the Redhawks beginning at Wichita State (11/18). Rixter has played in 20+ minutes over the last three games, including a season-high 25 minutes against San Diego on Sunday.

Category Leader
Rixter has affected basketball games in several ways this season through the first six games. She leads the Redhawks in three different categories including rebounds, rebounding average, and steals. She has hauled in a team-high 36 boards, averaging 6.0 per game, and has eight steals on the season (1.3 SPG).

Just Third Home Game
Wednesday's matchup marks just the third game of the season in Cape Girardeau for the Redhawks. SEMO is 1-1 in those two games at the Show Me Center including a 71-66 victory over Evansville (11/6) and a 67-57 loss to Missouri State (11/11). The Redhawks have two more home games in the non-conference schedule including Wednesday and later in December against William Woods (12/30).

Every Start
Only one Redhawk has made every start this season in guard Lexi McCully. McCully has started all six games this season and has played in 182 minutes. She ranks 15th in minutes played in the Ohio Valley Conference, averaging 30.2 MPG. Teammate Carmen Taylor averages one more minute than McCully (31.2 MPG) and ranks 11th in the OVC.

Sixth Sense
Through six games, the Redhawks have done a great job of assisting on their made baskets with 72 assists so far this season. Led by Raissa Nsabua, the Redhawks have dished out an average of 12.00 assists per game which ranks them sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference in team assists.

Lethal From Three
The Redhawks are connecting from three-point land at a high clip this season through six games. SEMO ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 33.3-percent mark from deep, shooting 37-111 from behind the line. Carmen Taylor is the leading three-point shooter at 38.9-percent and ranks second in the league with that percentage.

Defend the Three
The inverse of the Redhawks making threes has been their defense against the three-pointer from their opponents. SEMO has held their opponents to just 24.8-percent from deep which ranks them second in the OVC in that category. The Redhawks have allowed just 27 made three-pointers through six games.

Team Offense
Coming into Wednesday night, the Redhawks are averaging 62.5 PPG as a team, including a season-high 71 points against Evansville (11/6) earlier this season.
