Redhawks Have a Strong Day One at the OVC Fall Tournament

EVANSVILLE, In. - Southeast Missouri tennis ends day one of the OVC Fall Tournament with Juliette Demunck advancing to the finals in singles play, and two SEMO doubles pairs advancing to the finals.
The Redhawks went 5-5 in single matches on the day and 4-0 in doubles matches.
Day two of the OVC Fall tournament is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., CT.
Singles Action
Sophomore Juliette Demunck won both of her singles matches and will be competing in the finals of flight five tomorrow against Payton Tomichek.
In round one, Demunck handled Mila Larrieu from Eastern Illinois defeating her in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. In the semifinals Demunck rolled past Daniela Rosenberger from Lindenwood 6-3, 6-2 and earned a spot in finals.
Lera Valeeva got things started off for the Redhawks and won her round 1 match up against Myers from USI 6-2, 6-0. In round two, Valeeva would verse Chloe Routier (WIU) and win set one 6-2, lose set two 6-3, and then fall in the super tie break 8-10.
Valeeva will verse Paola Garcia from Lindenwood tomorrow in the consolation bracket of flight three.
The graduate transfer, Kristina Kozakova records her first career win at SEMO and defeats Anna-Evelina Trush from Western Illinois 6-3, 6-0 in the first round. Kozakova then fell to Cydney Rodgers from SIUE 3-6, 6-0, 8-10 in the second round.
Kozakova will verse L. Reneovales-Salazar tomorrow in the consolation bracket of flight four.
Freshman Mia Mayerová fell to Fabiana Labrador from Lindenwood in singles flight one 6-1, 6-0 in the first round. In the second round of the consolation bracket Mayerová lost to Ornellla Lomenzo from Eastern Illinois 6-7, 6-2, 8-10.
Maja Bajorek lost to Western Illinois' Lara Diniz de Souza 6-0, 4-6, 7-10 in the first round of flight two. Bajorek would bounce back in the consolation round two and win 6-3, 6-0 against Michelle Kostadinova.
Doubles Play
Valeeva and Kozakova teamed up to take on Anais Negrail and Sofia Davidoff from Southern Indiana in doubles flight one. They won 6-4 in a close match.
In the semifinals, Valeeva and Kozakova rolled past Margaux Guibal Britt and Paige Duncan (SIUE) winning 6-2 and advanced to the finals tomorrow against Southern Indiana's Antonia Ferrarini and Madison Windham.
Semo's other pair, Mayerová and Bajorek, is also advancing to the finals. Mayerová and Bajorek will play against Paige Grice and Mana Fawcettin (WIU) in the finals in doubles flight two.
Mayerová and Bajorek cruised past Lindenwood's Rosenberger and Michelle Trochez 6-2 in round one and won 6-2 again in the semis beating Ornellla Lomenzo and Mila Larrieu from Eastern Illinois.
