
Redhawks Ready for the Billy Hayes Invite Tomorrow

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri track & field heads to Bloominton, Ind. to compete in the Billy Hayes Invite. The meet will be held all day Friday, May 3rd at the Robert C. Haugh Complex.
The field events are slated to begin 12:00 p.m CT with the women's hammer throw and end at 7:30 p.m with the men's discus.
The running events are scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m with the 110m hurdles. The last event is set for 9:00 p.m with the men's 4x400m relay race.
Weekly Award Winners
Jaden Kight earned OVC Female Field Athlete of the Week for the first time this season. The graduate student placed first in the javelin with a new personal best throw of 152' 7". That mark ranks sixth in SEMO Records, 76th in the NCAA, and first in the OVC.
Briana Dixon tabbed OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week for her third OVC award of the outdoor season. The freshman broke the 100-hurdles school record (4th, 13.82), ranking second in the OVC. Dixon also jumped over a height of 5' 10.5 to break the SEMO high jump record, ranking 30th in the NCAA and first in the OVC. In the 200m she achieved a new PR time of 25.19 (6th), ranking 20th in OVC.
Records Broken
Brianna Dixon broke the SEMO 100m hurdle record and the high jump record at the Memphis invite. The freshman finished with a time of 13.82 and a jump of 5' 10.5 for fourth and first place. The freshman from Rantoul, Ill. broke the previous records of 13.84 and 5' 9" set by Candace Williams in 1981 and Courtney Haman in 2003.
Last Time Out
At the Memphis Invite the Redhawks posted 14 first place finishes, 53 top five performances, and set 29 new personal records.
Parker Feuerborn takes the trophy with a final hammer throw mark of 218' 3".
Aarion Jackson took the gold medal and a new personal best with a long jump distance of 23' 6".
In the javelin throw Justin Breault threw for a mark of 183' 11" in the men's and Jaden Kight's distance reached 152' 7" (New PR) on the women's side. Both claimed gold.
Brianna Payton crossed the line at 4:40.15 to place first in the women's 1500-meter race.
Tanner Koontz vaulted over a height of 15' 8.25 to notch first place in the pole vault.
In the women's pole vault Clara Billing jumped over a height of 13' 2.75" for first.
With a new personal best and time of 18:20.68 Layla Fliege placed first in the 5000m.
The men's 4x100m team of Momoh Brema, Brenden Parham, Connor Moore, and Tanner Koontz crossed the line at 42.58 to take the gold.
The women's triple jump saw Serena Williams place first. Williams jumped the distance of 38' 7.75" (11.78m).
With a time of 24.15, Sydney Burdine achieved a new personal record in the 200m while standing alone atop the podium.
Jacob Blassingame ran the 3000-meter Steeplechase in 10:29.90 to take first in the event.
The men's 4x400m squad of Mark Crawford, Terrico Garrett, Micah Grawer and Louis Primeau took home the trophy with a time of 3:19.86.
Where We Rank
For each individual event the top 48 performances will be accepted into the NCAA regional which is broken up into East and West. For each relay event, the top 24 relay teams will be accepted into the competition. The top 24 performances in the combined events (Heptathlon and Decathlon) are accepted directly into the Championships.
The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the Division One schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.
Southeast Missouri has three athletes ranked in the top 50 of the country, 25 performances ranked in the top 20 in the Midwest Region, and 13 first place performances in the Ohio valley Conference.

Breanna Dixon jumped over a height of 5' 10.5" to be ranked 30th in the nation, fifth in the region, and first in the OVC at the Memphis Invite April 27, 2024. Dixon is also ranked 20th in the 100m hurdles (13.82) in the region.
Shea DeGraaf scored 7029 points at the Joey Haines Invite to be ranked 45th in the nation and seventh in the region. DeGraaf also has the 10th best throw in the region and best throw in the conference in the Javelin (204' 4").
Breanna Miles is ranked 13th in the region in the 100-meter (11.59), ranked 18th in the region in the 200m (1st OVC) (23.84).
Terrico Garrett is ranked 11th in the region and first in the Ohio valley in the 800-meter with a time of 1:48.94.
Hannah Eastman is ranked first in the OVC (35:44.18) in the 10,000m.
Laila Hardin has the ninth best 400-meter hurdle time in the region and top finish in the OVC with a time of 59.41.
The SEMO 4x100 women's squad of Williams, Burdine, Dwaah, Miles (46.28) ranks 12th and the men's team of Koontz, Parham, Moore, Brema (42.37) ranks 19th in the Midwest Region.
In the 4x400 the men's squad of Moore, Crawford, Parham, Garrett and the women's team of Miles, Dwaah, Hardin, Burdine both rank 13th as well in the region with a times of 3:13:00 and 3:50.59 (1st OVC).
Mason Clough jumped over a height of 6' 8.75" to be ranked 17th in the region and first in the conference.
Freshman Molly Grohman cleared a height of 5' 9.25", ranking 10th in the midwest region.

Paden Lewis is ranked 15th regionally and first in the conference in the shot put (57' 11.75"), 17th regionally and first in the Ohio Valley in the discus (176' 3"), and 11th regionally in the hammer throw (211' 7").
In the shot put and hammer throw Marshall Swadley has marks of 56' 0.5" (19th regionally) and 207' 7" (13th regionally).
