Redhawks Head to Birmingham for 2024 Indoor Ohio Valley Conference Championship

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State track & field will head to Birmingham, Alabama to compete in the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships at the Birmingham CrossPlex. The event will be Wednesday, February 21, through Thursday, February 22.

The meet begins at 9:00 a.m on both Wednesday and Thursday with the heptathlon and pentathlon.

On Wednesday the field events are scheduled for 12:00 p.m and the running events are slated for 2:40 p.m.

On Thursday the field events begin at 11: 00 a.m with the high jump and at 12:30 p.m the running events begin with the women's mile.

The awards presentation is slotted for 4:00 p.m on Thursday.

Team Rankings
The Southeast Missouri men's track and field team is ranked 63rd in the nation with 10.29 points coming from Parker Feuerborn's weight throw mark of 74' 11.75" (22.85m). The team is ranked 14th in the Midwest Region with 51.06 total points and third in the conference with     462.76 points behind Eastern Illinois in first with 585.63 points.

The men's squad teams that are ranked in the nation are the weight throw team is ranked 12th, the shot put team is ranked 22nd, and the pole vault team is ranked 30th.

The women's team is ranked 15th in the Midwest Region with 31.53 total points and first in the OVC with 739.98 points, 342.14 points ahead of second.

The women's squad teams that are ranked in the nation are the pentathlon is ranked 24th, the high jump team is ranked 32nd, and the weight throw team is ranked 26th.

Where We Rank
At the end of the indoor track season the top 16 performers from each event make it to the NCAA Indoor Championship. The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the Division One schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.

Southeast has 13 athletes ranked in the top 50 of the country, 34 athletes ranked in the top 25 of the region, 16 athletes ranked first in the OVC and 47 athletes in the top five in the Ohio valley Conference.

Three Redhawks are ranked in the NCAA in the 55-meter hurdles, Marcus Gordon Jr. has the ninth best time (7.71), Trystan Wright is ranked 36th (7.99), and Isaac Readnour ranks 37th (8.00) all achieved at the 2024 Redhawks Open. Readnour also ranks 22nd in the region in the Heptathlon for his 4840 points earned.

Feuerborn, ranks eighth in the nation, third in the region, and first in the OVC in the weight throw with a throw of 74' 11.75" (22.37m). Feuerborn achieved this mark at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Feb. 2

Miles, a senior from Memphis, Tenn. has the 12th best time in the 55-meter in the NCAA. She crossed the line at 7.21 at the 2024 Redhawks Invite, Jan. 13. Miles also ranks 13th, and 10th in the region in the 60m (7.44)(1st in the OVC), and the 200 (23.92)(1st in the OVC) and has a time of 55.72 for first in the OVC in the 400-meter. 

Leanza Dwaah ranks 30th in the nation in the 55m for a finishing time of 7.30. The native of London, England recorded this time at the 2024 Redhawks Invite, Jan. 13.

Serena Williams recorded a time of 7.32 at the Redhawks Open to be ranked 35th in the NCAA in the 55-meters. She also ranks 23rd in the Midwest region for her triple jump distance of 39' 4".

Five Redhawks are ranked in the nation in the 55m hurdles for their performances at the 2024 redhawks Invite and Open. Dixion sixth (8.19), Billing 12th (8.28), Anna Thomason 14th (8.31), Megan Aubuchon 15th (8.35), and Kaitlyn McGinnitey is ranked 36th (8.59).

Fox, a senior from Mt. Zion, Ill. crossed the line at 2:48.16 to be ranked 45th in the NCAA in the 1000m, achieving this mark at the Bellarmine Open (Jan. 19). Fox is also ranked 25th (1st in the OVC) and 23rd (1st in the OVC) in the Midwest region in the 800m (2:10.13) and the mile (4:46.33).

Garrett is ranked 16th (1st in the OVC) in the region in the 800-meter with a time of 1:49.81.

The 4x400 team of Parham, Crawford, Garrett, Splitt has the 16th best time of 3:16.88 in the Region.

The team of Miles, Hardin, Dwaah, Burdine have the 14th best time in the region and best time in the OVC in the 4x400 (3:46.46).

The Distance Medley squad of Fox, Mellor, Eastman, Gray crossed the line at 11:55.81 to be ranked fifth in the region, and first in the OVC. 

The DMR squad of Garrett, Crawford, Splitt, Little ranks fourth in the Midwest Region (10:07.01).

In the Midwest Region Luke Hatfield Jackson is ranked 17th (1st in OVC) in the high jump (6' 10.25"), eighth (1st in the OVC) in the long jump (24' 7"), and 20th in the triple jump (47' 1.5").

Dixion is ranked 23rd in the Midwest region and first in the OVC in the high jump (5' 7.75").

Sullivan Gleason vaulted over a height of 16' 3.5" ranking 21st in the region.

In the women's pole vault Billing is ranked 11th in the region and first in the conference, clearing a height of 13' 4.5".

Luke Busateri has the 21st best triple jump mark in the region, jumping a distance of 47' 0.25".

Swadley and Alewelt have the 19th (1st in the OVC) (56' 4") and 20th (55' 5) best throws in the region in the shot put. Swadley also ranks 19th in the Midwest region in the weight throw (65' 6").

Eastman is ranked first in the Ohio Valley conference in the 3000-meter (9:53.30).

With 3350 points, Kaitlyn McGinnitey is ranked first in the conference in the pentathlon.

Records Broken
Senior Taylor Fox has broken five SEMO records during the 2023-24 campaign. The first at the Redhawks Invite with a time of 5:04.27 breaking the SEMO Rec. Center's previous facility record of 5:04.30 set in 2008 in the mile. The second was in the 1000m at the Bellarmine Open after she crossed the finish line at 2:48.16, five seconds faster than the previous record set by Megan Parks in 2016 (2:53.33). The third, fourth, and fifth came at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic, Bulldog Invite, and Arkansas Qualifier with mile times of 4:48.28, 4:47.81, 4:46.33 to break her own record three times.

Terrico Garrett crossed the finish line at 1:49.81 to break his previous record of 1:50.11 in the 800-meter. The graduate student achieved this time at the Arkansas Qualifier February, 16th.

Sophomore Clara Billing cleared a height of 13' 4.5 to break the SEMO indoor pole vault record at the Bulldog Open, Feb. 10th. The Swedish native broke the former record of 13' 1.5" set by Jill Schnurbuch in 2013. This is the third pole vault record Billing has broken at Southeast.

Parker Feuerborn, a graduate student from St. Michael, Minn., had a monster throw of 74'11.75 at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic, Feb. 2nd, to break his own weight throw record of 73' 4.75" he previously set earlier in the year at the 2024 at the Redhawks invite.

Breanna Miles crossed the line at 23.92 to break her 200-meter record last season of 23.93. The Tennessee native won the event, finishing ahead of 70 other athletes at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic, Feb. 2.

In her very first indoor meet Brianna Dixion broke SEMO's indoor high jump record at the Fred Wilt Invitational, Dec. 9. Dixion is a freshman from Rantoul, Ill. Dixion cleared the height of 5' 7.75" (1.72m) breaking the previous record of  5' 7.25" set by Angela James in 1991.

In her lone event at the Redhawks Invite Hannah Eastman competed in, she broke the Rec. Center facility record in the women's 3000-meter. The graduate student crossed the line at 9:59.56 beating the previous record of 10:06.87 set by former teammate Katie Wegmann in 2023.

Last Time Out
Over the weekend SEMO competed at two meets; The Redhawks Open and the Arkansas Qualifier achieving eight first place finishes, 39 top ten performances, and 11 new PR's.

Parker Feuerborn broke the SEMO Rec. Center Record with a mark of 74'8.50" in the men's weight throw to stand alone atop the podium.

Skylar Prescott is wearing the gold medal in the pole vault after vaulting over a height of 11'5.75".

Todjai Ross jumped for first in the women's long jump with a mark of 18'3.75".

Clara Billing ran the 55m hurdles in 8.28 for first and a new personal best.

Serena Williams wins the 55-meter with a time of 7.32 while achieving a new personal best.

Sophie Dubis claimed the top spot in the women's high jump, clearing a height of 5' 2.25".

Micah Grawer achieved a new personal record time of 4:33.04 while placing first in the men's mile.

In the women's mile Brianna Payton recorded a time of 5:15.92 for first and a new PR.

Terrico Garret broke his 800-meter school record after he finished with a time of 1:49.81 breaking his previous record of 1:50.11 he set during the 2023 season.

Taylor fox also broke her own school record when she crossed the line at 4:46.33 for seventh in the women's mile breaking the record she set last week.
