Women's Team in First Following Day One of the OVC Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Parker Feuerborn broke the SEMO weight throw record again to headline the first day of the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships. During the meet the Redhawks posted nine first place finishes, 13 new personal records, and 43 top ten performances with 19 being top three.

After day one the Women's team leads with 58 total points, 28 points ahead of Tennessee Tech in second.

The men's team is in second with 52 total points behind Eastern Illinois with 57 points.

New Record Alert
Parker Feuerborn claimed the top spot on the podium and broke the SEMO weight throw record again after he achieved a mark of 76' 8", shattering his old record of 74' 11.75". This is the graduate students fourth time breaking the record this year.

Atop The Podium
Brianna Dixion takes home the trophy in the women's high jump after she tied her own SEMO record, clearing a height of  5' 7.75".

Makenzie Williams achieved a mark of 60' 0" to become the OVC champion in the women's weight throw.

Hannah Eastman wins the 5000-meter with a time of 17:00.28, .58 seconds slower than the SEMO record while posting a new personal best.

The DMR squad of Taylor Fox, Brianna Payton, Erika Mellor, and Madalyn Gray finished in  12:03.54 to claim the top spot.

Podium Finishes
In the men's weight throw Marshall Swadley and Clay Alewelt are wearing the silver and bronze with marks of 64' 3" and 61' 8" (New PR).

Tanner Knootz vaulted over a height of 16' 4" to wear the silver medal and achieve a new personal record.

The men's DMR team of Justin Splitt, Louis Primeau, Mark Crawford, and Terrico Garrett crossed the line at 10:07.77 for third.

Headed to the Finals
Anna Thomason tied the women's 60-meter hurdle record with Lyndsey Stevenson set in 2004 with a time of 8.68 in the prelims of the race.

Dixion is headed to the finals in the 60m hurdles after achieving a new personal best time of 8.70 (1st).

Marcus Gordon and Trystan Wright crossed the line at 8.35 and 8.37(New PR) to make it to the finals of the men's 60m hurdles.

Three Redhawks are headed to the finals in the women's 400m; Sydney Burdine with a time of 55.85 (1st, new PR), Breanna Miles with a time of 56.63, and Laila Hardin notched a time of 56.83.

Fox, Gray, and Mellor are headed to the finals in the 800-meter with times of 2:14.00 (1st), 2:16.74, and 2:17.09.

Garrett and Splitt will race in the finals of the 800-meter tomorrow after they finished with times of 1:53.33 and 1:53.99.

In the women's 200-meter dash three redhawks ran fast enough to make it to the finals; Miles (24.32), Leanza Dwaah (24.94), and Burdine (25.03, New PR).

Noteworthy Performances
Sophie Dubis jumped over a height of 5' 1.5" for 10th.

The clock stopped at 8.42 to be a new personal record in the 60-meter hurdles for Isaac Readnour.

Dwaah finished the women's 60-meter when the clock stopped at     7.75.

In the women's weight throw Piper Klinger placed fourth (57' 5"), Alivia Busch notched fifth (56' 11") and Bailee Hux placed sixth (55' 7").

With jumps of 18' 5.75" (New PR) and 18' 0.25" Molly Grohmann and Serena Williams chalk up fourth and eighth place finishes in the long jump.

Colin Beers posted a fourth place finish (15'6.25", new PR) and Shea DeGraaf registered seventh (14'6.25") in the pole vault

In the men's 5000-meter Noah Little, Garrett Dumke, and Cade McCadams ran for times of 14:35.60 (4th), 14:45.99 (9th), and 15:22.93 (New PR).

Heptathlon Day 1 Results
After four events in the Heptathlon Shea DeGraaf is in second with 2948, 129 points behind first. Isaac Readnour sits in sixth place with 2610 total points

In the long jump Degraaf and Readnour placed fifth and sixth with jumps of 21' 9.75" and 21' 8.75".

DeGraaf threw the shot put a distance of 43' 5.25" while Readnour posted a mark of 30' 10" for second and 10th.

During the high jump DeGraaf and Readnour cleared a heights of 6' 4.5" and 6' 0.75" for second and fifth.

Day Two
The Redhawks are back in action tomorrow at 9:00 a.m with the Pentathlon and the Heptathlon. The field events are slated for 11:00 a.m and the running events are scheduled for 12:30 a.m. After the 4x400m relay the awards ceremony will begin.
