The Redhawks head back to Louisville for the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State track and field head to Louisville, Ky. the second time this year for the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic Friday, February 2, 2024. The meet is hosted by Bellarmine university and will be held at the Norton Health Care Sports and Learning Center.

The field events are expected to start at 10:00 a.m with the men's shot put and conclude at 4:30 p.m with the women's weight throw.

The running events are slated for 11:00 a.m with the men's 3000m and end with women's 4x400 at 6:50 p.m.

Records Broken
In her very first indoor meet Brianna Dixion broke SEMO's indoor high jump record at the Fred Wilt Invitational, Dec. 9. Dixion is a freshman from Rantoul, Ill., she placed first in the women's high jump. Dixion cleared the height of 5' 7.75" (1.72m) breaking the previous record of  5' 7.25" set by Angela James in 1991.

Feuerborn, a graduate student from St. Michael, Minn., had a monster throw of 73' 4.75" to break the Southeast indoor record previously set by himself in 2023 at the Redhawks invite.

At the Redhawks Invite Taylor Fox broke the SEMO Recreation Center record in the women's mile with a time of 5:04.27 beating the previous facility record of 5:04.30 set in 2008. The senior also broke the SEMO 1000m at the Bellarmine Open after she crossed the finish line at 2:48.16, five seconds faster than the previous record set by Megan Parks in 2016 (2:53.33).

In her lone event at the Redhawks Invite Hannah Eastman competed in, she broke the Rec. Center facility record in the women's 3000-meter. The graduate student crossed the line at 9:59.56 beating the previous record of 10:06.87 set by former teammate Katie Wegmann in 2023.

Weekly Award Winners
Luke Hatfield Jackson was selected as Co-OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week with Little Rock's Matthew Fox. This is the first time this year Jackson has received weekly honors. This past week Jackson reached the podium in three events at the Illini Challenge. The first in the long jump with a mark of 24' 7" for second, ranking first in the OVC and 43rd in the country. The second in the high jump when he cleared a height of 6' 10.25" for third, ranking first in the OVC and 72nd in the nation. The third in the triple jump, jumping for third and a distance of 47' 1.5", which is sixth in the OVC.

Terrico Garrett was awarded Co-OVC Male Track Athlete of the Week with Little Rock's Matthew Tyeskie after placing first and third in the 800-meter and the distance medley relay. Garrett crossed the line at 1:51.42 for the top time in the OVC and is ranked 52nd in the nation. He also finished the DMR in 10:15.25, ranking 36th in the country and is second in the OVC.

Taylor Fox tabbed her third OVC weekly honor in as many weeks. The Illinois native performances led her to be selected as the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Week. She finished in the top three in two events at the Illini Challenge. Securing a first place finish in the 800 (2:12.26) for the top mark in the conference and notched the bronze medal in the distance Medley team (11:55.81),  ranking 32nd in the NCAA and first in the OVC.

Where We Rank
At the end of the indoor track season the top 16 performers from each event make it to the NCAA Indoor Championship. The sport is broken up into nine regions, SEMO is in the Midwest Region which includes all the division one schools from Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota, Iowa, Minnesota, and Illinois.

Southeast has 13 players ranked in the top 50 of the country, 36 players ranked in the top 25 of the region, 14 athletes ranked first in the OVC and 58 athletes in the top five in the Ohio valley Conference.

Breanna Miles, a senior from Memphis, Tenn. has the tenth best time in the 55-meter in the NCAA. She crossed the line at 7.21 at the 2024 Redhawks Invite, Jan. 13. Miles also ranks 13th, ninth, and 17th in the region in the 60m (7.44), the 200 (24.02), and the 400-meter (55.72). All of these times also are the best times in the OVC.

Leanza Dwaah ranks 23rd in the nation in the 55m for a finishing time of 7.30. The native of London, England recorded this time at the 2024 Redhawks Invite, Jan. 13.

The freshman, Marcus Gordon Jr. has the sixth best time in the country in the 55-meter hurdles, with a time of 7.71, achieving this mark at the Redhawks Invite.

Trystan Wright is also ranked in the 55m hurdles for his performance at the Redhawks Invite. The sophomore registered a time of 7.99 for the 21st best time in the NCAA.

Four Redhawks are ranked in the nation in the 55m hurdles for their performances at the 2024 redhawks Invite. Breanna Dixion sixth (8.19), Anna Thomason 11th (8.31), Megan Aubuchon 25th (8.55), and Kaitlyn McGinnitey is ranked 31st (8.59).

The Distance Medley squad of Fox, Mellor, Eastman, Gray crossed the line at 11:55.81 Jan. 26th at the Illini Challenge to be ranked 32nd in the Nation, second in the region, and first in the OVC.

Anna Thomason recorded a time of 8.31 in the 55-meter hurdles to be ranked 11th in the nation at the 2024 Redhawks Invite, Jan. 13.

Parker Feuerborn, a graduate student from St. Michael, Minn., ranks sixth in the nation, third in the region, and first in the OVC in the weight throw with a throw of 73' 4.75" (22.37m). Feuerborn achieved this mark at the Redhawks Invite on Jan. 13th. 

Taylor Fox a senior from Mt. Zion, Ill. crossed the line at 2:48.16 to be ranked 39th in the NCAA in the 1000m, achieving this mark at the Bellarmine Open (Jan. 19). Fox is also ranked 18th (1st in the OVC) in the Midwest region in the 800m (2:10.76). 

Isaac Readnour ranks 23rd in the nation in the 55m Hurdles, with a finishing time of 8.00 at the Redhawks Invite. The Missouri native also ranks 15th in the region in the Heptathlon for his 4840 points earned.

Garrett and Justin Split are ranked eighth (1st in the OVC) and 25th in the region in the 800-meter with times of 1:49.85 and 1:52.96.

The 4x400 team of Parham, Crawford, Garrett, Splitt has the 15th best time of 3:18.77 in the Region.

The DMR squad of Garrett, Crawford, Splitt, Little ranks second in the Midwest Region (10:07.01).

In the Midwest Region Luke Hatfield Jackson is ranked 16th (1st in OVC) in the high jump (6' 10.25"), fourth (1st in the OVC) in the long jump (24' 7"), and 17th in the triple jump (47' 1.5").

Luke Busateri has the 19th best triple jump mark in the region, jumping a distance of 46' 5.25".

Marshall Swadley and Clay Alewelt have the 15th (1st in the OVC) (56' 4") and 17th (55' 5) best throws in the region in the shot put. Swadley also ranks 15th in the Midwest region in the weight throw (65' 6").

The team of Miles, Hardin, Dwaah, Burdine have the 17th best time in the region in the 4x400.

Dixion is ranked 19th in the Midwest region and first in the OVC in the high jump (5' 7.75").

In the women's pole vault Clara Billing is ranked 17th in the region and first in the conference, clearing a height of 12' 10.25".

Serena Willimas is ranked 17th in the Midwest region for her triple jump distance of 39' 4".

Kaitlyn McGinnitey scored a total of 3450 (24th, 1st in the OVC) points in the pentathlon to be ranked in the region.

Hannah Eastman is ranked first in the Ohio Valley conference in the 3000-meter (9:53.30).

Team Rankings
The Southeast Missouri men's track and field team is ranked 64th in the nation with 11.33 points coming from Parker Feuerborn's weight throw mark of 73' 4.75" (22.37m). The team is ranked 12th in the Midwest Region with 68.60 total points.

The men's squad teams that are ranked in the nation are the weight throw team is ranked 13th, the shot put team is ranked 17th, the high jump team is ranked 47th, and the pole vault team is ranked 41st.

The women's team is ranked 19th in the Midwest Region with 30.08 total points.

The women's squad teams that are ranked in the nation are the pentathlon is ranked 22nd, the high jump team is ranked 21st, the weight throw team is ranked 23rd, and the pole vault team is ranked 50th.
