#7 Redhawks Season Concludes with Loss to #3 Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – #7 Southeast Missouri Soccer (3-11-3, 3-5-3 OVC) fell in the quarterfinal round of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament by a score of 4-0 to #3 Lindenwood (9-5-4, 5-1-4 OVC) on Sunday night at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles.

As a team the Redhawks recorded four shots on goal with 11 total shots. Offensively SEMO was led by Forward Cayla Koerner who paced the team with four shots and one shot on goal.

The Redhawks were down early with the Lions scoring two goals within the first three minutes of the contest. At the 2:05 mark Mackenzie Compton slotted it to Anna Johnson who dribbled and scored. About a minute later at 2:59 Johnson gave it to Compton for the second goal of the night.

Junior keeper Sophia Elfrink was under fire all game facing her second highest shot total of the season with 20 and ten shots on goal. Elfrink registered six total saves. 

Six different Redhawks posted a shot in the contest with Koerner (4), Alayna Jakul (3), Justi Nelson (1), Elizabeth Rater (1), Zoe Houston (1), and Katelyn Miller (1) all getting in on the action.

The other Lions' goals came at 15:13 and 75:56 from Compton and Maddy Vasiloff with assists from Jessica Dodd, Allison Schrumpf, and Peyton Hatfiled. 

Nine Redhawks played the entire 90 minute shift including the entire back line of Melissa Kubin, Sophie Shrum, Kristin Anderson. Midfielders Alli Saviano, Nelson, Rater, and Jakul played the entire duration as well as Koerner and Elfrink.

The Redhawks season comes to a close after making it to the quarterfinals after upsetting #6 Eastern Illinois the round prior.
