MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Southeast Missouri tennis wins another three singles matches during day two of the ITA Regional tournament at the Adams Tennis Complex.
The Redhawks went 3-2 on the day in singles action. Doubles play started in the afternoon and SEMO had a 0-2 record during doubles.
Singles Matches
Maja Bajorek competed in her first match of the ITA's in the main draw bracket. Bajorek versus Nicole Teodosescu from the University of Indiana. Bajorek kept in close in the first set losing 6-4 and then lost 6-2 in the second set.Â
In the qualifying consolation bracket Lera Valeeva had her third singles bout of the tournament. Valeeva fell 6-4, 6-2 against Ida Clement from Purdue.
Juliette Demunck, in the Blue Raider consolation round of 16 beat Sydney Brantley from Tennessee State in straight sets winning 6-3, 6-1.Â
Kristina Kozakova and Mia Mayerová both had matches that got pushed into the third set. Kozakova beat Aroa Castillo (Tennessee State) 6-0, 3-6, and 10-6 in the tiebreak. Mayerová won 6-4, 4-6, 10-5 against Libbie Hamilton from Belmont university. Â
Doubles Play
Valeeva and Kozakova teamed up to take on Milica Popovski and Isabel Pacheco from the University of Cincinnati. Valeeva and Kozakova ended up falling 8-4.
Bajorek and Mayerová lost to Annika Planinsek and Alana Bristow from Ball State 8-3 in the round of 64 in the doubles bracket.
The Redhawks will be competing in more single matches tomorrow. Kozakova and Mayerová will be competing at 10:30 a.m. in the Blue Raider draw. Demunck will be competing at 12:00 p.m. in the consolation of the Blue Raider draw, Bajorek in the consolation of the main draw at 12:30 p.m., and Valeeva in the extra matches at 1:30 p.m.
