Redhawks Continue Road Stretch Saturday at Little Rock
Southeast Missouri Women's Basketball (6-12, 3-4 OVC) will be on the road for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Little Rock (6-12, 5-2 OVC) in the Natural State capital. Tip-off is set for 1:00 p.m., CT. in Little Rock, Ark. At the Jack Stephens Center.Â

Series History
The Redhawks and Trojans will meet for the eighth time on the court Saturday afternoon with Little Rock maintaining a 5-2 series advantage going into the contest. Last season, Little Rock swept the season series, including a 49-35 victory in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Semifinal round. Little Rock was the number one overall seed in the tournament a season ago.Â

Junior guard
Jaliyah Green registered 14 points on Thursday evening and is currently on a two-game double-digit point streak. Her performance now gives her 15 games in 2023-24 with 10 or more points. Freshman guard
Daejah Richmond is also on a two-game streak, scoring 11 points on Thursday night.Â

This season, SEMO has been dominating teams in the second quarter. The Redhawks are outscoring their opponents 296-276 in the second quarter of games including a 12-7 advantage last night against UT Martin.Â

Season Low
The Redhawks made it difficult on UT Martin last night on the defensive end of the floor. The Skyahwks were only able to score 52 points, a season-low in a loss for SEMO. UTM shot just 16-for-54 from the floor (29.6%) in the contest.Â

SEMO has done a nice job of distributing the basketball in 2023-24, led by junior guard
Kiyley Flowers and freshman guard
Daejah Richmond. Flowers has 57 assists on the season while Richmond has delivered 46. As a team, SEMO has registered 217 assists as a team, a 12.1 assists-per-game average.Â

The Redhawks dropped their most recent contest by a final score of 52-44 Thursday from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center.

Jaliyah Green and
Daejah Richmond both went into doubles figures during the game. Green notched 14 points (5-14) and five rebounds, two being offensive.Â

Richmond scored 11 of SEMO's 13 bench points on a nice night shooting. The freshman went 4 - 9 (44%) from the floor, 1-1 from deep and 50% from the charity stripe. Richmond also hauled in a team leading eight rebounds.

Anaya Brown led the Skyhawks with 14 points and chalked up 20 rebounds, nine being offensive and added four blocks. Guard Kenley McCarn added 13 points and Sophomore Lexi Rubel had 11 points.

Both teams were solid defensively with the Redhawks sending seven shots back and stealing the rock ten times. Martin notched five blocks and seven steals.

The Redhawks totaled 35 rebounds and ten assists in the contest.

The game featured four lead changes, four ties and each team's biggest lead was eight.

Scouting the OpponentÂ
Little Rock
The Trojans are coming off a 50-45 win over Lindenwood. Little Rock shot 47.6% from the field, 60% from the stripe and 100% from deep, going 1-1 from behind the arc.

Against Lindenwood, sophomore forward Faith Lee went 10-21 from the field and scored a team high 24 points. Lee also added five rebounds, two steals, and one assist.

Lee is currently averaging 14.7 points per game for the Trojans which is leading the team and sixth best in the conference. She is also the fifth best shooter in the conference with a 42.2% field goal percentage.Â

Jayla Brooks was the only other Trojan to hit double-digits, scoring ten points. Brooks had two steals against Lindenwood bringing her season total to 32, good for sixth most in the OVC.Â

Junior, Jaiyah Harris-Smith is averaging 6.2 assists per game which is the best in the Ohio Valley Conference. She is also leading the conference in assist/turnover ratio with a 2.9 ratio.

As a team this season Little Rock is the worst scoring team in the conference only averaging 55.1 PPG but their defense is second best in the OVC only allowing 63.2 PPG.

The Trojans are currently sitting at fourth in the conference standings at 5-2. Little Rock is behind Eastern Illinois and Morehead State who both have a 5-2 conference record also.Â

The Redhawks will wrap-up their three-game road stretch on Tuesday, Jan. 30, when they travel to take on Lindenwood for the second time this season. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.Â
