Redhawks Fall 9-6 Friday Night

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Southeast Missouri (17-16, 6-2 OVC) fell to Southern Indiana (9-21, 2-6 OVC) in game two of the series Friday night by a final score of 9-6.

Outfielder Josh Cameron went back-to-back days with a home run as SEMO's offense accounted for 12 hits off USI pitching.

Cameron got the Redhawks on the board in the top of the first with a solo blast to right field to give SEMO a 1-0 early advantage.

He finished the day going 3-for-5 with a home run, double, and three runs scored.

Second baseman Ben Palmer continued the home run trend blasting a two-run homer to left field. Upon review, the play was ruled a home run and the Redhawks held a 3-0 lead.

A two-run home run in the second inning off of RHP Payton Lawrence trimmed the SEMO lead to just one.

The Screaming Eagles would take the lead with a bases clearing, three-RBI double, to take a 5-3 lead to the fourth.

Jevon Mason got the Redhawks within one, 5-4, with an RBI single and Peyton Leeper was hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game at 5-5 midway through the fifth inning.

USI would score two runs in the fifth and seventh innings to take down the Redhawks, 9-5.

LHP Logan Katen (0-2) took the loss on Friday night, relieving Lawrence in the second inning. Katen allowed three hits and two runs in his outing.

Ben Palmer finished the day going 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs in his second-straight start at second base.

The Redhawks and Screaming Eagles will play the rubber-match tomorrow afternoon at USI Baseball Field. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m., CT.
