Dodd Earns First Major League Win in Big League Debut

Former Southeast Missouri left-handed pitcher Dylan Dodd was impressive in his Major League debut with the Atlanta Braves. The southpaw picked up his first win in his first start against the St. Louis Cardinals Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.

Dodd allowed just one run on six hits and did not give up a walk in the Braves' 4-1 victory. He struck out three and threw 52 of his 73 pitches for strikes.

A native of Danville, Illinois, Dodd made Atlanta's season-opening rotation and was added to the MLB roster Tuesday afternoon. He pinned down a strong Cardinals offense through his five innings on the mound.

Dodd is expected to keep his spot in Atlanta's rotation with Kyle Wright (shoulder) and Max Fried (hamstring) on the injured list. His next start could come as quickly as Sunday vs. San Diego.

Dodd became the eighth SEMO player to make a Major League debut. He is the first in five years to accomplish the feat after fellow left-handed pitcher Joey Lucchesi earned his MLB debut with the San Diego Padres on Mar. 30, 2018.
