Redhawks Fall 13-6 Friday Afternoon

MOREHEAD, Ky. – Outfielder Josh Cameron went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs as Southeast Missouri (21-18, 10-3 OVC) fell in game one to Morehead State (23-13, 8-2 OVC) by a final score of 13-6. 
 
Both teams combined for 22 hits and 19 runs in Friday's contest.
 
Cameron, who hit home runs 11 and 12 of the season, homered in the fifth and seventh inning as the Redhawks pounded out four home runs on the afternoon. 
 
Brett Graber's two-run home run to right field in the top of the second inning put the Redhawks on the board for the first time in the contest.
 
MSU got on the board first with three home runs in the first inning off LHP Noah Niznik, to give the Eagles a 4-0 advantage before Graber stepped to the plate. 
 
Leading 4-2 in the bottom of the second, a three-run home run by center fielder Ryley Preece (his second of the game) put MSU on top 7-2.
 
Niznik (5-3) finished his day going 4.0 innings, allowing seven runs on five hits, striking out seven. 
 
Chance Resetich cut into the MSU lead with a solo shot to right center to trim the score to 7-3, before Cameron hit his second of the game the following batter to make it 7-4 heading to the bottom of the fifth. 
 
The Eagles would score a run in the fifth, two in the sixth, and three more in the eighth inning to take game one on Friday afternoon. 
 
Resetich finished the day going 3-for-5 with a home run and a double. 
 
RHP John Bakke (5-2) was credited with the win for MSU. 
 
Game two of the series will take place tomorrow, Saturday April 22, with first pitch slated for 3 p.m., CT. at Allen Field.
