SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (0-1) opened its spring season with a 7-0 loss to Missouri (8-1) Thursday morning at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
Mizzou won all three spots to claim the doubles point and was victorious in all six of its singles positions to complete the sweep.
Daniela Hlacikova was the only Redhawk who won a set in the match beating Emelie Schwarte, 6-4, at No. 2 singles. Hlacikova forced a third set which Schwarte wound up winning, 6-2, 4-6, 10-4.
Each of the remaining five singles bouts were won in straight sets by the Tigers. Mae Canete defeated
Romana Tarajova, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 1, Laura Masic beat
Ksenia Shikanova, 6-4, 7-6, at No. 2 and Gabriela Martinez defeated Trinity Calinescu, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 4. Inah Canete won, 6-1, 6-2, over
Vivian Lai at No. 5 and Andrea Artimedi beat
Teona Velkoska, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 6.
Mizzou won the three double positions by scores of 6-4, 6-4, 6-3, respectively.
SEMO faced the Tigers for the 15th time in program history.Â
The Redhawks remain in Springfield to face Central Arkansas Friday morning.
