CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Fifty-nine Southeast Missouri State University student-athletes were honored on Monday at the Show Me Center in a graduation ceremony that recognized the graduates of the Spring Class of 2022. These Redhawks will receive their degrees during SEMO's commencement exercises for the Spring 2022 semester Saturday.
 
The Director of Academics and Student-Development Betsy Wilcox opened the ceremony with some remarks prior to Director of Athletics, Brady Barke, who spoke as well. 

SEMO President Dr. Carlos Vargas also addressed the graduates. 
 
Nate Johnson of Men's Basketball provided the student remarks for his fellow graduates. Johnson will graduate this weekend with a degree in Psychology. 
 
Former SEMO Volleyball player Emily Brune (2000-2005) was the keynote speaker for the event. 
 
Joseph Karall of Baseball was awarded the annual Jewell Award. Karall had the highest cumulative GPA of all male student-athlete graduates in the 2021-2022 school year. 
 
Six Redhawks won the annual Trombetta Award, given to the female with the highest cumulative GPA. Kate Daus of Soccer, Claire Morrill of Track & Field/Cross Country, Grace Powderly of Tennis, Lindsey Bates of Gymnastics, Ellie Gamradt of Track & Field, and Katie Schumer of Track and Field were this year's recipients. 
 
The ceremony concluded with coaches and academic services staff performing an honorary sashing ceremony.
