NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri women's tennis (12-4, 4-0 OVC) swept Tennessee State (0-8, 0-3 OVC), 7-0, Friday afternoon to extend SEMO's win streak to six matches after its fourth-straight Ohio Valley Conference victory.
SEMO opened the road dual with wins at the third and second doubles positions to secure the point.
Myroslava Zelenchuk and
Vivian Lai won by default at No. 3 before
Daniela Hlacikova and
Teona Velkoska defeated Daniela Koleva and Presley Hall, 6-1.
With the win, Hlacikova and Velkoska extended their win streak to six with their 10th dual win of the season.
The Redhawks then won all six singles matches to complete the sweep.
Velkoska won her sixth singles match by default before wins at the fifth, fourth, second, first and third slots.
Lai swept Mckhia McCrary, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5 before Zelenchuk edged Hall, 6-0, 6-4, at the fourth position.
For Lai, a junior from Taipei, Taiwan, the win was her sixth straight (11-3 in 2022).
At the second singles flight, Hlacikova dropped Naomi Von Bose, 6-0, 6-2.
Romana Tarajova, the 2022 OVC Preseason Top Player, improved to 4-0 at the top position in league play with a 6-2, 6-2, victory over Franka Sindicic.
Ksenia Shikanova then defeated Koleva, 6-2, 6-3, at the third lineup spot to seal the victory for SEMO.
With the win, Shikanova improved to 11-5 in 2022.
SEMO will conclude its trip to the Music City Saturday at Belmont. Doubles will open the dual match at 1 p.m., CT at the Belmont Tennis Complex.
