JACKSON, Tenn. – Bryson Bloomer's two-out grand slam keyed a five-run fourth inning as second-seeded Murray State (33-24) stayed alive with a 10-1 victory over top-seeded Southeast Missouri (29-20) Saturday at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
MSU came out of the loser's bracket and won back-to-back games to force a winner-take-all title game with the Redhawks Sunday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m., CT.
Ryan Perkins led off the top of the fourth inning with a walk and moved to second on a single by Alex Crump. Brennan McCullough followed with a double and Perkins scored. Walks by David Hudleson and Jake Slunder loaded the bases. After SEMO made a pitching change, Bloomer hit
Fischer Rausch's fourth pitch over the left field wall giving the Racers a 6-0 advantage.
MSU again loaded the bases in the sixth inning and added another run with the help of three-straight two-out walks. Woosley touched home on Brock Anderson's walk to push the Racers lead to 7-0.
After Crump singled and McCullough doubled with one out in the seventh, Woosley tripled to right center extending MSU's lead to 9-0.
Danny Sperling doubled down the left field line and scored SEMO's lone run of the game on a two-out single by
Jevon Mason in the bottom half of the seventh inning.
Jacob Pennington (5-2) picked up the win in relief. Pennington gave up one run on four hits, walked none and struck out six in five innings of work.
Right-hander
Hunter Ralls (3-2) suffered the loss in his first career OVC Tournament start. Ralls allowed five runs on five hits, struck out four and walked three in 3.2 innings.
Relievers Rausch,
Brandon McCabe,
Matt Perego and
