Redhawks Drop Series Finale to Racers, 11-6

MURRAY, Ky. – Tyler Wilber went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double and one home run as Southeast Missouri (15-14, 9-6) dropped its series finale to Murray State (16-14, 7-5), 11-6, Saturday afternoon at Reagan Field.

Wilber fell a triple shy of the cycle in his team-high 13th multiple-hit performance this season.

Down, 4-2, SEMO took a one-run lead with a four-run fifth inning.

Wilber, Danny Wright and Andrew Keck each delivered RBI-hits with two outs. Keck's single up scored Wright and Wilber putting the Redhawks up, 5-4.

MSU, after tying the game with a run in the bottom of the fifth, scored three more in the sixth to regain an 8-5 advantage. Jake Slunder knocked in a run on a single to right center and later scored on a passed ball. Jordan Holly then touched home on a sacrifice fly.

Wilber came up in the seventh and hit a two-out solo home run to left field narrowing MSU's lead to 8-6. For Wilber, the home run marked his fourth of the season.

The Racers, however, responded with three runs, including two on a home run by Holly to finish off their 11-6 win.

Sam Gardner picked up his first win of the season on the mound, while Bryce Grossius (1-1) took the loss for SEMO.

The Redhawks collected nine hits with Wilber leading the way. Keck followed with two hits and two RBI, while Wade Stauss added a home run, his team-high eighth of the year.

MSU tallied 11 hits and three home runs in the contest.

SEMO heads to UT Martin for a midweek matchup on Apr. 13. That game will not count toward the Ohio Valley Conference standings.
