JONESBORO, Ark. – Romana Tarajova,
Daniela Hlacikova and
Ksenia Shikanova each registered singles victories as Southeast Missouri women's tennis (0-3) fell to Central Arkansas (3-6), 4-3, Saturday at the RidgePointe CC.
After losing the doubles point, SEMO rattled off wins at the second and third singles positions. Tarajova fought past Fuka Nonoyama, 6-1, 4-6, 3-6 and Hlacikova ousted Yada Vasupongchai, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
Hlacikova is now 2-0 at the third singles position in 2021 and Tarajova has a mark of 2-1 this season.
Chunxi Xin then defeated
Kseniya Zonova, 7-6, 7-6, at the top slot to even the match at 2-2.
Shikanova overcame Maja Gledic, 6-3, 7-5, in her first career match as a Redhawk after transferring from Nevada at the fourth position.
Central Arkansas then captured the match with wins at no. 6 and no. 5 singles. Sumomo Hamanaga edged
Teona Velkoska, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, and Jaeun Lee defeated
Vivian Lai, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
In doubles, Xin and Nonoyama beat Zonova and Velkoska, 6-4, at the top slot. Gledic and Lee then overcame Shikanova and Lai, 7-6 (7-4), at no. 3 and Vasupongchai and Mei Ishimura fought past Tarajova and Hlacikova, 7-6 (7-3) at the middle doubles spot.
SEMO closes out the College Tennis Showcase Sunday against Arkansas State at 10 a.m., CT at the RidgePointe CC.
