ISU has won the last 11 contests, with the last meeting being a 5-6 decision in favor of the Redbirds on February 21, 2015. SEMO is looking for the first win  in over 24 years.

Walk This Way
Southeast Missouri walked 93 times this season, averaging just over six per game, and the most in the league. Connor Basler leads the team with 15 walks, followed closely by Tyler Wilber who has 13. SEMO pitchers have allowed just 44 walks, the fewest in the Ohio Valley Conference. This past weekend, the Redhawks were walked 11 times, while SEMO pitchers issued just six walks. Against the Purdue-Fort Wayne in an early non-conference series, SEMO was walked 33 times and walked nine Mastadon batters.

Hurts So Good
After leading the OVC in hit by pitch last season, SEMO is doing the same this year. Redhawk hitters have been plunked 21 times this season. Peyton Faulkner and Alex Nielsen lead the team after being hit four times. In game two of their series against Western Illinois (Feb. 23), the Redhawks reached base five times by way of a hit by pitch.

The 2019 Campaign
The Redhawks are scheduled to play a total of 32 games at Capaha Field this 2019 season. Sixteen of Southeast Missouri's first 17 games, including the first seven of the season will be played in Cape Girardeau. The Redhawks face two Southeastern Conference foes in Vanderbilt and Missouri and one Big Ten opponent in Purdue. Southeast will face rivals Southern Illinois and Saint Louis twice this season. While Capaha Field is undergoing renovations, game times could be adjusted.

Leading the OVC
Southeast is leading the Ohio Valley Conference in various statistics early on. SEMO is first in earned run average (3.14), on base percentage (.431), walks (93), hit by pitch (21), runs allowed (60), earned runs allowed (46), and in walks allowed (44). Individually, Austin Blazevic is tied for first in runs batted in (15) and Alex Nielsen leads the conference in sacrifice bunts (4). Connor Basler is tied for second in the OVC in base on balls (15), and stolen bases (8). On the mound, Noah Niznik leads the conference in ERA (0.78). Niznik is tied for first in runs allowed (2) and earned runs allowed (2).
