Redhawks Complete 2019 Baseball Schedule

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.– Southeast Missouri's 2019 baseball schedule shows the Redhawks open a season with seven-straight home games for the first time in program history. SEMO will host 32 contests at Capaha Field during its 55-game slate.

The Redhawks will play 16 of their first 17 games of 2019 in Cape Girardeau and open a season at home for the first time in 2015 when they play host to Western Michigan (Feb. 15-17) in a three-game series. That stretch also includes matchups with Harris-Stowe (Feb. 19), Western Illinois (Feb. 22-24), Purdue Fort Wayne (Mar. 1-3), Saint Louis (Mar. 5), Southern Illinois (Mar. 6), UT Martin (Mar. 8-10) and Illinois State (Mar. 12). The only road trip in the first month is a midweek tilt at SEC member Vanderbilt (Feb. 26).

Memphis (Mar. 19), Arkansas State (Mar. 26, Apr. 16), Missouri State (Apr. 2), McKendree (Apr. 23), Purdue (Apr. 26-28) and Missouri (Apr. 30) are SEMO's other non-conference opponents. Missouri is coached by former SEMO head coach Steve Bieser. The Redhawks beat the then-#23 Tigers, 6-5, in Columbia last season.

SEMO opens its 28th Ohio Valley Conference season at home against UT Martin. Austin Peay (Mar. 22-24), Jacksonville State (Apr. 5-7), Tennessee Tech (Apr. 18-20) and Eastern Kentucky (May 10-12) also visit Capaha Field this year.

Meanwhile, the Redhawks hit the road to face SIUE (Mar. 15-17), Eastern Illinois (Mar. 29-31), Murray State (Apr. 12-14), Belmont (May 3-5) and Morehead State (May 16-18).

In all, six NCAA Tournament teams from last season appear on the Redhawks 2019 schedule. Saint Louis, Missouri State, Purdue, Vanderbilt and OVC members Tennessee Tech and Morehead State each saw postseason action. Both Tennessee Tech and Vanderbilt advanced to the Super Regionals before falling 2-1 to their counterparts.
