Southeast Missouri leads its all-time series with Murray State. 34-26. The most recent matchup was in the Show Me Center when the Redhawks topped the Racers, 80-70, on Feb. 1, 2018. SEMO has won the last six matchups against MSU at the Show Me Center.
How We Got Here
The Redhawks are currently 7-7 this season and have won three of their last five games. Southeast Missouri finished the non-conference schedule with a 5-6 mark. Most recently, the Redhawks opened OVC play with a 62-52 win at SIUE and a 80-73 loss against UT Martin. SEMO earned its first win in an OVC opener since 2015-16. Rekha Patterson secured a win at the Vadalabene Center for the first time as the Redhawks head coach. Tesia Thompson leads the team with 17.2 points per game. Adrianna Murphy averages 4.3 assists and 3.2 steals per contest. SEMO has forced 15-plus turnovers in 13 of 14 games this season.
Scouting the Racers
The Racers are 5-9 overall and 1-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference this year. Murray State is 0-6 on the road with losses to Big Ten member Illinois (Dec. 11, 84-52), and SEC foes #18 Kentucky (Dec. 21, 88-49), and #10 Tennessee (Dec. 28, 98-77). The Racers lone OVC win came over Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 5) when MSU posted a 81-63 victory. Recently, MSU fell 75-67 to UT Martin despite a 20-point third period. Forward Evelyn Adebayo averages 18.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the Racers. The redshirt-junior has shot 80 percent (74-of-93) from the free throw line this season. Adebayo earned OVC Player of the Week honors twice thus far and OVC Newcomer of the Week accolades three times. She has seven double-doubles in 2018-19.
