Back in the Tournament
The Redhawks are back in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, making their second appearance in four years under head coach Mark Redburn. Southeast last made the league's postseason tournament in 2015. The Redhawks, seeded seventh that year, fell to #2 Jacksonville State, 21-0, and #6 Eastern Illinois, 10-9, in 12 innings.
OVC Tournament Capsule
Southeast makes its 17th all-time Ohio Valley Conference Tournament apperance in 2018. The Redhawks are 39-25 in OVC Tournament play. Southeast has won a total of five OVC Tournament titles (1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999) in its program's history.
Choccolocco Park
The Ohio Valley Conference Softball Tournament will be held at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Alabama for the third-straight year. This year marks the 25th the Championship has been held and sixth year it has featured eight teams. Prior to 2016, the tournament was held at the site of the No. 1 seed. Jacksonville State beat SIU Edwardsville to win the title both years the tournament has been held in Oxford.
Most Wins in 20 Years
Southeast's 33 wins are its most in a season in 20 years. The Redhawks enter the postseason with a 33-18 overall record. Southeast's 33 victories tie for 10th-most in a season in school history and are the most since the Redhawks won 38 games in 1998.
30-Win Season
The Redhawks claimed their first 30-win and winning season in seven years. Southeast last won 30 games when it finished 31-30 in 2011. In all, the Redhawks have recorded 30 or more wins 16 times in program history. Eleven of those 30-win campaigns have come during Southeast's NCAA Division I era (since 1992).
Tournament Field
Eastern Kentucky (37-16) won the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship and is the #1 seed for this year's tournament. #2 Austin Peay (36-15), #3 Jacksonville State (30-22), #4 Southeast Missouri (33-18), #5 SIU Edwardsville (24-19), #6 Eastern Illinois (34-18), #7 UT Martin (25-30) and #8 Morehead State (27-21) complete the eight-team field. The Redhawks are a combined 7-7 against this year's tournament field.Â
Series History
SIU Edwardsville holds a 36-24 lead in its all-time series against Southeast. The Redhawks snapped a 14-game losing streak in their series with the Cougars when they swept SIUE in a doubleheader, 6-2, 7-5, on Apr. 13. Southeast is 3-0 against the Cougars this year.
As a #4 Seed
Southeast makes its second Ohio Valley Conference Tournament appearance as a #4 seed. The Redhawks are 3-2 all-time as a #4 with their only other trip to the OVC Tournament as a four-seed coming in 2003.Â
Vs. the #5 Seed
The Redhawks are 7-2 in Ohio Valley Conference Tournament play against the #5 seed. Southeast last faced a five-seed in 2009 when the then-#2 seed Redhawks beat Tennessee Tech, 7-1.Â
Redhawks are Rolling
Southeast is on a six-game winning streak and has won nine of its last 11 contests. The Redhawks finished the regular season with eight doubleheader sweeps, three of which came during their final week.
OVC Tournament Experience
Only four players on this year's roster have previous Ohio Valley Conference Tournament experience. Catcher Riley Hayes, outfielder Claire Wernig, infielder Darby Pruett and pitcher Madeline Krumrey were all freshmen the last time the Redhawks made the tournament in 2015. Eighteen players will experience the OVC Tournament for the first time in 2018.
Winning Conference Record
Southeast finished fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 15-7 record this season. It is the Redhawks first winning conference record under head coach Mark Redburn. The 15 OVC victories are Southeast's most in a season since the Redhawks finished fifth in the league with a 17-12 mark in 2011. Southeast won no more than 13 conference games each of the last six years. Additionally, this year was the Redhawks 13th winning season in OVC play.
Quite a Turnaround
The Redhawks enjoyed a +10 increase in the win column through 51 games this season. Mark Redburn claimed his first winning season in nine years as an NCAA Division I head coach. Southeast (33-18) has its highest winning percentage (.647) in 20 years as the 33 wins came a year after the Redhawks went 23-27 and finished ninth in the Ohio Valley Conference. It is the biggest one-year turnaround for Southeast since it went from 17-31 in 2010 to 31-30 in 2011.
Chalk Up AnotherÂ
Southeast registered its 23rd winning season in its softball history. It was the 13th winning season since the Redhawks joined the NCAA Division I ranks in 1992.
Krumrey Surpasses 100 Strikeouts
Madeline Krumrey surpassed 100 strikeouts this season when she struck out four against Tennessee State (Apr. 28). Krumrey leads the Redhawks with 106 strikeouts through 27 appearances and 26 starts. It marked the first time in her career where Krumrey recorded 100 strikeouts in a season. Alora Marble was the last Southeast pitcher to finish with 100 or more strikeouts in a season in 2012 (102).
Another Career Accomplishment in Sight
Madeline Krumrey needs two more victories to reach her most number of wins in a season during her Southeast career. Krumrey enters the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament with a 13-7 record. Her 14 victories in 2017 currently stand as her most in a season. In all, Krumrey has picked up 46 wins in the circle over her four-year career.
Anderson Boasts 14-Game Hitting Streak
Rachel Anderson carries a 14-game hitting streak into the postseason. The hitting streak is the longest of Anderson's career and currently stands tied for the longest in the Ohio Valley Conference this season. Anderson leads the Redhawks in batting average (.371), runs scored (35), hits (53), triples (6), doubles (9), on-base percentage (.471), walks (25) and stolen bases (14).
NCAA Rankings
As a team, Southeast ranks 14th in the nation in triples per game (0.33), 29th in fielding percentage (.972) and 58th in winning percentage (.647). Individually, Rachel Anderson is seventh in triples (6) and 21st in triples per game (0.12). Freshman Rachel Rook is 18th nationally in saves (4).Â
Locked In
Pitcher Haley Thogmartin has dominated inside the circle in her last five appearances. Thogmartin went 4-0 with a 0.54 ERA, allowing only two earned runs in 26 innings over that span. She also tallied 18 strikeouts to just four walks, threw three complete games and pitched two shutouts. Thogmartin is 12-6 this year with her 12 wins surpassing the win total from her first two seasons (10) at Southeast combined.
Active on the Basepaths
The Redhawks notched a combined 18 stolen bases in their last four games. Southeast had 11 stolen bases alone in its doubleheader sweep of Tennessee State (Apr. 28). The Redhawks are third in the Ohio Valley Conference with 68 stolen bases this season.

Mark Redburn picked up his 250th career win as a head coach when Southeast beat Morehead State, 2-0, on Apr. 21. Redburn is 257-332 all-time in his 14-year head coaching tenure. That record includes a 91-105 mark as the Redhawks head coach.
Games Started
Shortstop Sarah Messex and center fielder Rachel Anderson have started every game of their Southeast careers to date. Messex has made 150 consecutive starts and Anderson has started 101 straight games.
Home Record
Southeast finished with a 13-3 home record this season. The Redhawks 13 home wins were their most since they had 15 in 2011. The three home losses were Southeast's fewest since 2006.
Well-Rested
The Redhawks were the only Ohio Valley Conference team that did not play the week before this year's conference tournament (May 1-6). Southeast has not played since Apr. 29 when it swept Belmont in a doubleheader.
Major Defensive Improvement
In 2017, Southeast committed a total of 59 errors and finished eighth in the Ohio Valley Conference with a .960 fielding percentage. Through 51 games this season, the Redhawks have been charged with just 38 errors and lead the league in fielding percentage (.972).Â
New Single-Season Records
Southeast's 2018 club have three single-season records to its credit. The Redhawks set new records in batters struck out looking (83) and saves (7), and tied the record in stolen bases (68).Â

100 Hits for Anderson
Sophomore center fielder Rachel Anderson got her 100th career hit on a single in the first inning of game one at Eastern Illinois (Apr. 11). Anderson leads the team and ranks fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference with 53 hits.
Anderson Second in Career Triples
Sophomore center fielder Rachel Anderson hit her team-high sixth triple of the season vs. SIU Edwardsville (Apr. 8). As a result, Anderson moved into second all-time in career triples at Southeast. She ranks first in the Ohio Valley Conference and seventh in the nation in triples. Anderson presently has 14 triples in her career. Kathy Rediger (1981-84) holds the school's all-time career triples record with 18. As a team, Southeast is eighth in the nation in triples per game (0.36).

Southeast ranks third in the Ohio Valley Conference with 37 home runs as one of five teams in the league with 30 or more this year. A total of 10 different Redhawks haveÂ
