Redhawks Sweep Tennessee State, 16-8, 9-0

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.–Southeast Missouri (31-18, 13-7) surpassed 30 wins this season with a 16-8, 9-0, doubleheader sweep of Tennessee State (3-44, 0-16) Saturday afternoon at the Southeast Softball Complex.
 
SEMO registered its first 30-win season in seven years and 16thall-time in the program's history
 
The Redhawks scored five runs in each of the third and sixth innings to key its game one win.
 
Down, 6-3, the Redhawks used a RBI-triple by Addison Barnouski and two-RBI singles from both Madison Harris and Mykaela Arellanes to take a 8-6 advantage.
 
Sarah Messex tacked on two more runs to SEMO's lead in the bottom of the fourth when she launched her team-high eighth home run over the wall in left center.
 
Abby Tillotson later delivered an RBI-single in the fifth before the Redhawks put the Tigers away in the sixth.
 
Arellanes ripped a two-RBI-single with one out. Tillotson then stepped in and ended the game with a three-run walk-off home run to polish off victory.
 
SEMO registered 13 hits with Arellanes, Tillotson, Barnouski and Messex combining for nine. Arellanes went 3-for-5 with a run scored and four RBI and Tillotson went 2-for-4 with a run scored and four RBI. Barnouski followed at 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Messex went 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.
 
Freshman Rachel Rook (5-4) picked up the win. Rook struck out four and allowed two runs on three hits in 2.1 innings out of the bullpen. 
 
Madeline Krumrey, who started the game, re-entered to claim her second save of the season. Krumrey struck out four, walked four and gave up six runs on four hits in three innings. She went over 100 strikeouts in a season for the first time in her career.
 
Lauren Powell (2-22) suffered the loss for TSU. Powell scattered seven hits, gave up eight runs, walked three and struck out two in just 2.1 innings.
 
Ahead, 4-0, in game two, SEMO put up five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete its second run-rule victory.
 
Rachel Anderson led off with a single and went to second on a wild pitch. Parker Bandy walked and Tillotson flied out to score Anderson. Barnouski followed with a RBI-single and Messex delivered a run-scoring double. Arellanes' two-RBI single capped the 9-0 shutout.
 
Haley Thogmartin (11-6) tossed a two-hit shutout. Thogmartin also walked one and struck out one.
 
Tori Hart (0-13) took the loss.
 
Anderson went 3-for-4 with a run scored, while Arellanes, Messex and Claudia Gallo followed with two hits apiece. Gallo also had her second home run of the season.
 
SEMO finished with 10 hits in the nightcap.

Additionally, the Redhawks were active on the basepaths stealing 11 bases in the doubleheader.
 
The Redhawks conclude their regular season with a 1 p.m., CT, doubleheader against Belmont Sunday.
