ST. LOUIS – Southeast Missouri (29-18) swept Saint Louis (22-25), 7-1, 1-0, in a doubleheader Wednesday. The Redhawks completed their sixth doubleheader sweep of the season.
SEMO used a pair of big home runs to propel its game one victory.
Addison Barnouski belted a three-run home run to key a four-run inning for the Redhawks in the top of the third.
Parker Bandy and
Mackenzie Long also scored on the round-tripper – Barnouski's team-high seventh of the season – to make it 5-0.
Another home run, this time a two-run shot by Bandy, led off the sixth inning to widen SEMO's lead to 7-1. For Bandy, it was her second home run.
Madeline Krumrey (12-7) struck out five and did not allow a walk in her 11
thcomplete game this year. Krumrey allowed just one run on six hits.
Maddie Baalman (13-14) suffered the loss. Baalman gave up seven runs and 10 hits, struck out six and walked two in five innings.
Offensively, the Redhawks pounded out 11 hits for their seventh double-digit hit game.
Bandy,
Abby Tillotson, Barnouski and
Claudia Gallo had two hits apiece to lead the way.
Haley Thogmartin pitched a two-hit complete game shutout in the nightcap.
Thogmartin (10-6) struck out four and did not allow a walk in her first shutout of the season and second of her career.
Rachel Anderson's RBI-single scored
Mykaela Arellanes for the decisive run. Arellanes led off the game with a double and touched home on Anderson's ensuing hit for the game's only tally.
Thogmartin retired the Billikens in order in each of the second, third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
SEMO outhit SLU, 5-2, with all of its hits coming from the first four hitters in its lineup. Arellanes, Anderson and Bandy had one hit each, while Barnouski collected two. Anderson extended her hitting streak to 10 games, the longest of any Redhawk this season.
The Redhawks now have 29 wins in 2018.
SEMO returns to Ohio Valley Conference action when it hosts Tennessee State Saturday.
