Redhawks Swept by Central Arkansas, Drop Series Finale, 5-4

CONWAY, Ark. – Colby LeBlanc delivered a pinch-hit two-out double in the bottom of the eighth inning to score the game-winning run as Central Arkansas (9-8) beat Southeast Missouri (5-13), 5-4, Wednesday.

UCA completed a two-game series sweep of the Redhawks with its one-run comeback win.

Down, 4-3, entering its at-bat in the eighth inning, Dusty Wright set up the game-tying run with a two-out double down the left field line. After Matthew Wade relieved Aaron Stretch on the mound, Michael Haun entered the game to pinch run for Wright. Rigo Aguilar then hit Wade's second pitch for a single to center and Haun scored to tie the game.

LeBlanc was ahead 2-1 in the count when he doubled down the right field line off left-handed reliever Adam Pennington to bring home Aguilar for the decisive run.

SEMO had a runner on with one out and Devon Wilson represented the go-ahead run at the plate. However, Wilson grounded into a double play as UCA hung on for the victory.

Peyton Faulkner scored the game's first run on a single by Tristen Gagan with one out in the top of the first inning. Faulkner walked, stole second and went to third on a wild pitch before giving SEMO a 1-0 edge.

Left-hander Nate Green, who made his first start of the season, gave up a single and two doubles to the first three hitters he faced. The Bears scored three runs on four hits to take a 3-1 lead as Green exited the game after throwing just eight pitches.

SEMO scored again in the second inning and tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fourth when Faulkner's infield single scored Alex Nielsen.

The Redhawks took the lead on Gagan's solo home run to center field in the fifth inning. For Gagan, it was his team-high fourth round-tripper of the season.

Ross Rogers (1-1) was credited with the win in relief. Rogers allowed one hit in 1.2 scoreless innings as one of five pitchers who took the mound for the Bears. Will Brand earned the save.

Wade (0-1) was charged with the loss, allowing one hit and one run. He faced only one hitter. In all, seven different pitchers entered the game for SEMO.

Starters Green and Ricky Ramirez lasted just one-third of an inning.

Chase Urhahn, Faulkner, Gagan and Connor Basler each had two hits to lead the Redhawks.

SEMO returns to Ohio Valley Conference play when it visits UT Martin for a three-game series beginning Friday.
