The Southeast Missouri women's basketball team will head to Memphis for its final game before the Christmas holiday Monday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., CT, at the Elma Roane Fieldhouse

Series History
Southeast Missouri trails its all-time series against Memphis, 3-0. The most recent matchup between the two teams was December 16, 2016 in Memphis, Tennessee. The Redhawks fell, 65-63, with Adrianna Murphy getting the defensive rebound in the final seconds. Murphy finished with 10 points against the Tigers. 

How We Got Here
Southeast Missouri sits at 4-5 this season despite a 0-3 start. The Redhawks lost at #6 Mississippi State (88-53, Nov. 6), Bradley (85-79, Nov. 10), Southern Illinois (60-40, Nov. 14), North Alabama (67-80, Nov. 24) and Indiana State (51-62, Nov. 29). The four wins came against Western Illinois (81-71, Nov. 20), NJIT (68-58, Nov. 25), Illinois-Springfield (82-46, Dec. 4) and at Evansville (54-50, Dec. 8).  Tesia Thompson leads the team with 16.4 points per game. Adrianna Murphy averages 4.4 assists and 3.4 steals per game.

OVC Player of the Week Honors
The Ohio Valley Conference honored Carrie Shephard (Newcomer) and Adrianna Murphy (Player) with weekly honors on Dec. 11. Shephard recorded 21 points, five steals and four assists in two games. She had a career-high five 3-pointers against Illinois-Springfield (Dec. 4). Murphy scored 34 points, collected eight steals and dished out 11 assists in 70 minutes of play. She recorded her first double-double (24 points, 11 rebounds) of the season against the Prairie Stars.

Scouting the Tigers

The Tigers are currently 3-6 this season and have a 2-3 record at Elma Roane Fieldhouse. Memphis averages 58.7 points, 41.9 rebounds and 19.3 turnovers per game. Sophomore forward Alana Davis has averaged 11.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game through nine contests. Davis is 26-of-39  (.667) at the free throw line this season. The Augusta, Georgia native has had four double-doubles already this season. Freshman guard Jamirah Shutes averages 13.6 points per game. Shutes has appeared in seven games for the Tigers.

Last Time Out
Southeast Missouri recently traveled to Evansville to face the Purple Aces. The Redhawks returned to Cape Girardeau victorious after securing a 54-50 win at Meeks Family FIeldhouse on Dec. 4. Adrianna Murphy, who played in her 100th career game at SEMO, scored 10 points, matched a season-high seven steals and dished out five assists. Murphy also made three free throws in the last minute to help sink the Purple Aces.
