Series History
Wednesday marks the 36th matchup between the Salukis and Redhawks. Southern Illinois leads the all-time series, 29-6, with the Salukis winning the last four meetings. The last time SIU and SEMO met was in Cape Girardeau last season, where the Redhawks fell, 79-74, on Nov. 22. SEMO is 0-6 in Carbondale.

How We Got Here

Southeast Missouri went undefeated in exhibition play to start the 2018-19 season. The Redhawks took down the Hawks 78-51 and the Lynxs 82-50. Against Mississippi State, the Redhawks fell 88-53, but freshman Taelour Pruitt made a splash with 15 points in that game. Thompson recorded 19 points, and LaTrese Saine and Celeste Akoro also recorded two blocks apiece. At Bradley, the Redhawks fell 85-79 with Thompson recording a career-high 32 points and recording the third double-double of her career (also had 12 rebounds).

Against the MVC

Southeast Missouri faces four Missouri Valley Conference opponents this 2018-19 season. Southern Illinois is the second MVC school SEMO plays after the Redhawks lost at Bradley on Nov. 10. Indiana State (Nov. 29) and Evansville (Dec. 8) are also on the Redhawks non-conference schedule.

Scouting the Salukis
The Salukis finished the 2017-18 season with a 17-14 record and 11-7 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play. Southern Illinois returns a bulk of their statistical leaders, including seven underclassman and eight upperclassmen. On top of the 12 returning letterwinners, SIU welcomes two newcomers in Caitlin Link and Payton McCallister. Recently, the Salukis fell, 95-94, to UT Martin (Nov. 9). Sophomore Makenzie Silvey recorded a career-high 29 points against the Skyhawks.

Thompson Named Preseason All-OVC Team
Sophomore guard Tesia Thompson was named Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference. In her rookie campaign, Thompson registered 398 points, 51 steals and 164 rebounds. The Memphis, Tennessee native shot a team-high 118-of-163 (.724) at the free-throw line. She averaged 12.8 points in 27.2 minutes per game.

Murphy's Splash
Senior Adrianna Murphy has been making a splash in the record books for Southeast Missouri. Murphy is currently ranked second in program history in assists (489) and third in steals (212). Sherry Mitchell (1987-1991) holds the record for assists (639) and steals (335).

Last Time Out
Southeast Missouri came up short in a 85-79 loss to Bradley (Nov. 10) despite Tesia Thompson's career-high 32 points and 12 rebounds. It was Thompson's third career double-double, 24th career double-digit game, fifth 20-plus point game and seventh eight-plus rebound effort. SEMO tied the game at 33-33 on the opening possession of the second half, only to have BU answer with a 9-0 run. The Redhawks didn't recover after that.
