Tennessee State leads the all-time series against Southeast by a count of 25-19. The Redhawks won two of the last three meetings between these teams. Southeast is 5-20 against the Tigers in Nashville.

Another Winning Streak
Southeast is on a two-game winning streak for the second time this season after beating Henderson State (Dec. 29) and Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31) in Cape Girardeau last week. The Redhawks aveaged 85 points per game in those two victories. Southeast also won two games in a row on Nov. 13 (86-54, vs. Hannibal-LaGrange) and Nov. 16 (74-71, at Western Illinois).

OVC Opening Win
The Redhawks improved to 10-16 all-time in Ohio Valley Conference openers when they cruised to an 81-48 victory over Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31). Southeast began OVC play with a win for the first time since 2012-13. The Redhawks also matched their largest margin of victory (+33) in a league opener.

Big Time Defense
Southeast held Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31) to just 39.2 percent (20-of-51) from the field. It was the lowest field goal percentage an opponent had against the Redhawks this year. It was the fifth time Southeast held an opponent under 40 percent from the field with Rick Ray as its head coach. The Redhawks held the Colonels top scorers in Nick Mayo (12) and Asante Gist (4) to a combined 16 points in that game.

It's Been Awhile
The Redhawks commanding 81-48 win over Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31) marked the first time Southeast beat a conference opponent by more than 30 points since 2000-01. That year, the Redhawks won at Tennessee State, 88-57, on Jan. 4.

Kellum Returns
Forward Trey Kellum returned from a knee injury to score five points in six minutes off the bench vs. Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31). Kellum missed five games with his injury. He is currently Southeast's top rebounder (6.1 rpg) and second-leading scorer (11.8 ppg) this year.

Five Double-Digit Scorers
Southeast had five players score double figures in two-straight games. Denzel Mahoney (15), Jamaal Calvin (15), Antonius Cleveland (14), Jaylen Benton (10) and Tahj Eaddy (10) notched double figures in the scoring column against Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31). Prior to that, Cleveland (18), Calvin (18), Mahoney (18), Milos Vranes (12) and Benton (10) scored double-digits vs. Henderson State (Dec. 29). Southeast last went two-straight games with five double figure scorers on Dec. 22 (at Missouri State) and Dec. 27 (vs. Harris-Stowe), 2015.

Calvin Heats Up
Jamaal Calvin heated up to shoot 64.3 percent from 3-point range over his last two starts. Calvin made 9-of-14 from beyond the arc during that stretch with six threes vs. Henderson State (Dec. 29) and three vs. Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31). He finished with a team-high 18 points against the Reddies and 15 against the Colonels marking the second time in his career where he scored double figures in back-to-back games. Calvin averaged 16.5 points and four rebounds per contest, while shooting 57.9 percent (11-of-19) from the field in his last two starts.

Mahoney Delivers Again
Freshman Denzel Mahoney averaged 16.5 points and six rebounds in Southeast's two victories last week. Mahoney notched 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds against Henderson State (Dec. 29) and pitched in 15 points against Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31). He shot 56.5 percent (13-of-23) from the field for the week. Mahoney scored double figures in nine of his last 11 starts.

Redhawks Win
The 81-48 victory over Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31) marked the Redhawks sixth win this season. Southeast surpassed its win total (5-24) from a year ago. The Redhawks did not get their fifth win until Jan. 28 (58-51, at SIU Edwardsville) of last season.

Eaddy Steps Up
Freshman guard Tahj Eaddy came off the bench to score double figures in two of Southeast's last three games. Eaddy scored 13 points in 21 minutes vs. Cornell (Dec. 23) and followed that up with 10 points in 19 minutes vs. Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31). He is a perfect 9-of-9 at the free throw line in 13 games and ranks fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.452) this season.

Happy New Year!
Southeast won its first New Year's Eve game since it moved to the NCAA Division I ranks when it beat Eastern Kentucky, 81-48. The Redhawks moved to 1-4 all-time in such contests. Southeast will now look to begin a New Year with a win, something it hasn't done since 2012-13 (86-84, vs. Austin Peay, Jan. 3).

Eighty or More
The Redhawks put up more than 80 points in each of their last two games. Southeast scored a season-high 89 vs. Henderson State (Dec. 29) and added 81 two days later against Eastern Kentucky (Dec. 31). Southeast scored 80 or more points a total of five times this year. Additionally, the Redhawks scored 80 or more points in back-to-back games for the second time under head coach Rick Ray.
