CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri women's basketball (9-12, 3-5) defeated Murray State (12-8, 4-3) Wednesday, 79-70, to record its first Ohio Valley Conference win at the Show Me Center this season.

Southeast was led by four double-digit point performances.
Bri Mitchell recorded her second-straight 20-point game, turning in 25 points. She was two short of tying a career best. 17 of her 25 points came in the second half.

Adrianna Murphy recorded her second career double-double, first of the season, with 15 points and 11 rebounds, both tying career bests. The sophomore had a career-best seven steals with five assists.

Other notable performances included 14 points from
Hannah Noe and 13 from
Ashton Luttrull.
Mandy Madden finished the contest with eight points and seven rebounds.

Southeast forced the Racers into 21 turnovers, resulting in 20 points off turnovers for the Redhawks. Southeast also had 13 steals in the contest.

As a team, the Redhawks shot 42.5 percent. A 61.1 percent shooting performance in the fourth quarter raised SEMO's shooting from 36.4 at the end of the third.

It was a low-scoring first quarter on both ends and each team put up 12 points. Noe jumpstarted the scoring with a 3-pointer just over a minute in. The Redhawks never trailed in the opening stanza, holding a three-point lead much of the frame. Luttrull converted a 3-point play following a media timeout to put SEMO up by four, its largest lead with 3:48 to play. The Racers finished the quarter with four-straight points to end in a 12-12 tie.

Noe led the way in the first with five points for SEMO. Murphy had four rebounds with a trio of steals while playing the entirety of the first quarter.

Murray's LeAsia Wright completed the rare four-point play to begin the second quarter and give the Racers their first lead. The Redhawks worked to recapture the lead but couldn't hold it long. Murray went on a 9-2 run to open a five-point lead with 3:18 to play, 27-22. The first half ended with SEMO cutting the Racer lead to one going into halftime, 29-28.

Murphy had 10 points in the first half to record her fourth double-digit point game this season, ninth of her career. She also had six rebounds with five steals. Her five steals had already tied a career-high.

Mitchell followed close behind Murphy with eight first-half points while Madden co-led the team with Murphy with six rebounds.

Southeast forced Murray into 13 first-half mishandlings, resulting in six points off turnovers for the Redhawks. Southeast's eight steals helped result in six fast break points against Murray.

The Racers came out on top in the third quarter, 27-22, to hold a 56-50 lead on the Redhawks going to the fourth quarter. Down five, the Redhawks went on a 12-3 run to recapture the lead and go up by four, 42-38. With SEMO clinging onto a one-point lead, 47-46, Murray closed the quarter on a 10-3 run to lead by six going to the final 10 minutes.

Murphy recorded her second career double-double by the completion of the third quarter with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mitchell moved into the leading scorer role with 17 points.

The Redhawks had an incredible fourth quarter to secure the victory over the Racers, winning the frame, 29-14.

A 3-pointer by Luttrull 4:12 into the fourth cut the lead to one. Mitchell put the Redhawks back on top with a layup 30 seconds later.
Kaley Leyhue made a layup with 3:53 to play, flipping the score in the Redhawks' favor one last time. SEMO used a 12-3 run to close out the final 2:22 of the game, picking up the 79-70 win over the Racers.

Murray State was led by a 23-point, 10-rebound performance by Ke'Shunan James. The Racers also had double-digit point performances from Bria Bethea (16), LeAsia Wright (11), and Abria Gulledge (11).

The Redhawks will travel to Austin Peay on Saturday for a showdown with the Govs. SEMO and APSU tip off at 4 p.m. from the Dunn Center in Clarksville, Tennessee.Â
