MARTIN, Tenn. – For the first time since Feb. 21, 2009, Southeast Missouri women's basketball (8-10, 2-3) defeated UT Martin (4-14, 1-4), snapping a 14-game losing streak to the Skyhawks. The Redhawks were victorious on the road, 82-79.

Southeast overcame an early 16-point deficit to ultimately defeat the Skyhawks. Southeast led by as much as 14 later in the game.

Bri Mitchell turned in a game-high 25 points while also leading Southeast Missouri with eight rebounds. Mitchell's eight rebounds ties a career best. Saturday was the 10
th 20-point game of her career and third this season.

The Redhawks had three total players in double figure scoring including
Hannah Noe with 18 and
Olivia Hackmann with 11. Noe drained four 3-point buckets. Hackmann finished the contest with six rebounds, all of which came in the first half.

Other notable performances included seven assists from
Adrianna Murphy and nine points from
Lakyn Gulley.
Mandy Madden also swatted away two shots and pulled in three boards. In only her third appearance this season,
Kaley Leyhue had two-points and three rebounds in a season-high eight minutes in her hometown.Â

In the end, Southeast narrowly trailed in field goal shooting (48.5%) and free-throw shooting (72.7%) but won on the boards, 38-30. Three-point shooting was tied at 33 percent for both teams but the Redhawks made three more than UTM, 10-7.

Following the Redhawks winning the opening tip, Hackmann kick started the scoring with an immediate 3-pointer to begin the game. The first quarter remained close early but the Skyhawks used a 16-3 run to open a 16-point lead on the Redhawks, 25-9. The opening stanza concluded with the Skyhawks out in front, 32-19.

Mitchell had six points in the opening quarter while Noe contributed five points of her own.

The tides turned in the Redhawks' favor in the second quarter of the contest. Southeast cut the lead to eight on a Mitchell trey but UTM kept a steady 10-point lead in the minutes that followed. Down 43-33, the Redhawks rattled off 12-straight points to capture its first lead since the opening possession, 45-43. The Redhawk defense held the Skyhawks scoreless for three minutes and 20 seconds while it went on its 12-point run. The first half ended with the contest all knotted up at 45-45.

After allowing UTM to shoot 77.8 percent in the first quarter, the Redhawks narrowly topped it in the second, shooting 78.6 from the field.

Mitchell entered halftime with 17 points, extending her double-digit point streak to five games. Hackmann was Southeast's next top scorer with seven points but led the squad with six rebounds.

As a team, the Redhawks won on the boards, 20-11. The Redhawks turned in 20 points in the paints and 11 off fast breaks in the first half.

The Redhawks continued the offensive output in the third quarter, coming out on top in the frame, 27-19. Scoring remained steady on each end with neither team rattling off an extensive run; however, three-straight 3-pointers by SEMO midway through the quarter, gave the Redhawks a 12-point advantage. SEMO's largest lead of the game came on a layup by Mitchell with 3:06 to play in the third, 68-54.

The third quarter concluded with SEMO out in front 72-64. Mitchell had 19 points through the third quarter while Hackmann and Noe tipped the double-digit point mark. Hackmann extended her double-digit streak to five games, tying a season-long. Noe's is widened to two games.

The Skyhawks came out hot in the fourth quarter, outscoring SEMO 9-2 in the first three minutes and 10 seconds, cutting the Redhawks' lead down to one, 74-73. The teams combined for 14 points in the low-scoring final six minutes and 50 seconds. Southeast never relinquished the lead despite holding on to a one-point lead four times. Noe helped secure the win when she got a final layup to go with 18 seconds left, making it a three-point game, 82-79.

Ashton Feldhaus led the Skyhawks with 20 points in the game while Myah Taylor had 15 and Janekia Mason had 12. Three Skyhawks each had four rebounds to co-lead the team.

Southeast Missouri will wrap its four-game road swing Wednesday at SIUE. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from Edwardsville, Illinois.
