MARTIN, Tenn. --Â Southeast Missouri's women's tennis team closed out the UT Martin Fall Invitational Saturday.
SEMO opened the day against Austin Peay in singles.
Isabella Krupa (No. 3) picked up the lone victory for the Redhawks in convincing fashion winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2.
Kseniya Zonova (No. 2) took Claudia Yanes Garcia to three sets losing, 4-6, 6-4, 0-1 (7).
Oleksandra Doroshenko (No. 1),
Mila Majtan (No. 4),
Annisa Warasanti (No. 5) and
Joanne Hollings (No. 6) dropped their matches in straight sets.
The Redhawks then faced UTM in singles. Zonova (No. 4) and
Ana Canahuate-Torres (No. 7) each picked up a victory in tiebreakers. Warasanti (No. 6) took her opponent to a third set, but ultimately dropped the tiebreaker. Krupa (No.1),
Anais Emelie (No. 2), Doroshenko (No. 3) and Majtan (No. 5) each lost in straight sets.
SEMO closed out the afternoon with doubles play against the Skyhawks. Zonova and Emelie (8-4) teamed up to collect the only victory for the Redhawks. Krupa and Doroshenko played tough at the top of the lineup, but fell, 8-6. Majtan and Warasanti, as well as Torres and Hollings played together in flights three and four, respectively. Each tandem lost their matches, 8-3.
SEMO will compete in the Southern Illinois Carbondale Invitational next weekend.
