The Southeast Missouri track & field teams resume their outdoor season in Bowling Green, Kentucky at the Western Kentucky Hilltopper Relays.
The meet will open on Friday at 1 p.m. with pole vault. Shot put, hammer throw and the 3000m run will also be held later in the day. The remainder of the meet will take place Saturday with field events beginning at 9 a.m. and track events at noon.
Athlete of the Week
Kevin Farley was named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Male Field Athlete of the Week for his three top-two finishes last weekend at the Drury Hotels Joey Haines Invitational.
He placed first in the discus throw with a new personal record of 183'6 (55.94m). The mark is the best in the OVC this season and also ranks 22nd in the nation. Also, Farley's toss currently ranks second in school history, trailing only Neil Rock's mark of 192'4" set in 1986.
Farley finished second in the shot put with a league-leading throw of 60'3 (18.36m), which also ranks 21st in the nation. He also placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 203'5 (62.01m), which is sixth in the conference and 39th nationally.
Cracking The List
Several Redhawks earned their way into the school's top-ten lists in various events.
Cheyanne Tunti's 400m time of 55.08 seconds ties her for ninth with Kathleen Hudson (1981).
Marc Maton ran a 3:50.80 to earn the 10th best time in the 1500m run.
Sydney O'Brien claimed the 10th-best school finish in the 10000m run at 37.06.55.
N'Kia Jones earned eighth in Southeast's all-time triple jump, leaping 11.94m (39'2.25").
Looking Ahead
The Redhawks resume the outdoor season in Edwardsville, Illinois next Saturday, April 16, at the SIUE Invitational.
