Redhawks Wrap Up Weekend In Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. – Southeast Missouri's track & field teams finished weekend competition at the Georgia Tech Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Friday
Kevin Farley led off the day by placing second in the hammer throw (60.99m). Stephen Zagurski also took fifth (54.62m) with a new personal best in the competition while Jason Walker finished eighth (48.92m).
In women's hammer, Paden Wachter's best toss measured in at 46.58m.
Farley returned to earn another second place finish in shot put with a throw of 18.62m. Walker also threw, earning a throw measuring 14.10m. For the women's side, Aaliah Herron had a top mark of 12.93m.
Taylor Coffelt took second in javelin with a new personal record of 42.52m.
Dylan Rush reached a height of 4.75m in pole vault.
Both Zach Gordon and Chris Martin made appearances in the long jump, leaping 6.92m and 6.64m, respectively. Sidne' Willamson leapt 5.42m in the women's competition.
Mariam Ajiroba ran a 12.03 in the women's 100m dash finals. On the men's side, Haile Wilson ran the top Redhawks time of 10.90 seconds.
Anna Thomas clocked a time of 11:53.40 in the 3000m steeplechase while Jace Mortimer finished seventh at 9:39.00 on the men's side.
Marc Maton took second in the 1500m run with a time of 3:48.78. Dan Plunkett also ran, clocking a time of 4:00.48.
In the women's 5000m run, Redhawks Angela Sumner (17:23.10), Kaitlyn Shea (17:24.72) and Sydney O'Brien (17:26.21) finished sixth through eight, respectively.
Saturday
Sierra Maddox opened the second day of competition by taking fourth in pole vault (3.60m).
Herron and Wachter both returned for discus, reaching distances of 40.96m and 38.98m, respectively.
Chris Martin placed second in men's triple jump, tying his season best and nationally ranked leap of 15.67m.
Farley earned his third top-three finish of the weekend, taking third in discus (53.08m). Walker took fifth in the event at 50.39m while Zagurski's top toss measured in at 44.12m.
In the women's 800m, Megan Parks finished in a personal best 2:11.36 to take third. On the men's end of the race, Kameron Long (1:53.84), Jordan Brown (1:52.06) and Cole Davis (1:55.64) all ran.
Cheyenne Tunti set a new personal record in the 400m, finishing in 54.99 seconds.
In the men's 400m running, Jarred Pasley tied his personal best of 47.52. Brandon Chunn (48.32) earned the next best Southeast time while Jordan Brown and Cole Davis both finished at 48.77.
Miya Dorsey clocked a time of 1:03.77 in the 400m hurdles.
Tunti returned for the 200m dash, earning her second personal record of the day with a time of 24.81. Ajiroba also ran a personal best of 25.07 seconds as Willamson (26.60) made her first appearance in the event of her Redhawk career.
Gordan ran a 22.26 in the men's 200m while Wilson clocked a time of 22.58m.
Both 4x400m relay teams set new season bests. The women's team of Tunti, Dorsey, Parks and Coffelt finished with a time of 3:55.25.
The men's squad of Brannon Wright, Chunn, Barber and Pasley closed the meet by earning the fifth best finish in school history with a second place finish of 3:08.89.
The Redhawks will return to action next weekend on Saturday, Apr. 30, at the Memphis Invitational.
