Men Place First At Drury Hotels Joey Haines; Women Third

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri's Track & Field teams wrapped up competition Saturday afternoon at the annual Drury Hotels Joey Haines Invitational. The men's team took first overall with 150.5 points while the women took third with 107.5 points.
On Friday, the meet kicked off with only two events. In the the In the women's hammer throw, Paden Wachter finished 10th with a toss of 46.72m. McKenna Baker also threw for a distance of 32.23m during competition.
On the men's side, Kevin Farley took second with a distance of 62.01m. Stephen Zagurski (53.91m) and Jason Walker (51.35m) took seventh and ninth, respectively, in the event.
Afterwards, the 10,000m runs took place as the lone track event the day. Sydney O'Brien claimed first on the women's end of the event, finishing with a time of 37.06.6. Rachel Hutchcraft placed fifth in the event, finishing in 39:18.8.
Nathan Cook earned the top time for Southeast in the men's 10,000m in third place (32:05.0). Jaime Zarate followed Cook, finishing fourth with a time of 32:21.4.
Competition resumed Saturday morning with women's shot put as Herron earned to top Redhawk mark of 13.42m in seventh. Wachter (12.16m), Baker (11.46m), and Catherine Hopkins (11.44m) also competed in the event.
For the men, Farley's top toss measured in at 18.36m (second place). Zagurski's throw of 14.77m earned ninth in the event.
In discus, Wachter earned the top Redhawks distance at 40.91m. Herron and Baker both followed with marks of 38.02m and 28.92m, respectively.
Farley captured first in the men's side, hurling the discus 55.94m. Walker (47.91m), Andrew Ryan (40.96m) and Zagurski (39.96m) also threw in the event.
Lindsey Seabaugh opened the day in track events by capturing first in the 3000m steeple (11:52.30). Jace Mortimer placed second in the men's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:43.73. Shane Brown followed in the event, earning a time of 10:12.81.
In the women's 100m dash, Mariam Ajiroba took second at 12.11 seconds. Kayla Heidelberg (12.48), Macy Ritter (12.58) and Chelsea Miller (12.76) placed seventh through ninth, respectively.
Haile Wilson sprinted to a time of 10.74 men's 100m dash.
Taylor Coffelt was the lone Redhawk in the women's 100m hurdles, finishing fifth at 15.03. Christopher Davis ran the event in the men's 110m version of the event, clocking a time of 16.09.
Ajiroba earned another second place finish in the 200m dash (24.96) behind Cheyanne Tunti, who took first with a time of 24.85. Tunti also claimed first in the 400m dash, clocking a time of 55.08. For the men, Jordan Barber finished third (49.32) while Brannon Wright placed fourth (49.33). Barber ran again in the 200m dash, taking sixth with a time of 22.35
Megan Parks placed seventh (2:18.55) in the 800m run. Angela Sumner (2:25.80) and Anna Thomas (2:29.24) also appeared in the event.
Cole Davis finished third (1:57.40) and Jordan Brown took fifth (1:57.72) in an extremely close 800m race.
In their second appearance of the day, Parks (4:42.42.) and Sumner (4:50.35) both earned top-10 finishes in the 1500m run taking sixth and ninth, respectively.
Marc Maton captured first in the 1500m run with a time of 3:54.22.
In the 5000m, Craig Munie placed second with a time of 15:24.21. Dan Plunkett took fourth in the event (15:43.64). Kaitlyn Shea finished third in the women's running, clocking in at 18:04.71.
Dalton Huffman earned a height of 1.93m (sixth) in the men's high jump while in the women's end, Chante Mosby tied for fifth with four other competitors at 1.57m. Abi Sowash followed in 10th with a height of 1.52m.
Kayla Heidelberg leapt the furthers for the Redhawks in the women's long jump, reaching a distance of 5.71m. Sidne' Willamson (5.55m) and Mikayla Logan (5.44m) also competed in the event.
Jacob Kent placed first in the long jump bounding 7.14m. Kent was closely followed by Chris Martin in second (7.13m) while Tre Curry finished eight (6.70m).
Abayomi Akinmoladun bounded 13.87m in the triple jump while N'Kia Jones leapt 11.94m in the women's event.
Dylan Rush topped the standings for pole vault, taking first with a height of 4.90m. Duncan Ross took fourth in the competition at 4.15m. Sierra Maddox (3.56m) took second in the women's pole vault, as Jacqueline Jeschka took fifth (3.11m).
In the final events, Coffelt (39.41m) claimed second in javelin while Hopkins placed fifth (31.09m) and Wachter finished tenth (25.54m). Ryan returned in the men's javelin, reaching a distance of 45.08m.
The Redhawks will return to action next weekend, April 8-9, at the Hilltopper Relays hosted by Western Kentucky.
