Redhawks Distance Runners Break School Records

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Southeast Missouri completed the first day of the Meyo Invitational at the University of Notre Dame on Friday.
The Redhawks distance medley squads highlighted the night, both breaking Southeast indoor records.
Jordan Brown, Cole Davis, Kameron Long, and Marc Maton joined forces to finish second with a time of 9:55.52. Their effort broke the previous record of 10:00.71 set in 2012.
On the women's side, Kaitlyn Shea, Megan Parks, Miya Dorsey and Angela Sumner finished with a time of 11:58.34, breaking the decade old mark of 12:03.08 (2003).
In other events, Haile Wilson qualified for tomorrow's semifinal with a time of 6.82 seconds in the 60m dash. Chris Martin and Zach Gordon also competed, posting times of 7.00 and 7.09, respectively.
Brandon Chunn posted a time of 1:21.57 in the 600m.
Nathan Cook earned a time of 15:28.54 in the 5000m run.
Jarred Pasley claimed ninth in the 200m dash, finishing with a time of 21.89. Brannon Wright set a personal record in the race, earning a time of 22.28 seconds.
Zach Gordon also made his 200m debut with a time of 22.35. Earlier in the meet, Gordon competed in the long jump with a 6.95m performance
Jacob Kent also participated in the long jump, finishing with a mark of 6.96m.
Stephen Zagurski set a new personal record in weight throw with a mark of 17.09m. Jason Walker also competed with a strong toss, earning a distance of 16.69m.
On the women's side, Mariam Ajiroba recorded a personal best in the 60m dash with a time of 7.78 seconds.
Cheyanne Tunti also set a personal record, finishing the 200m dash in 25.23 seconds.
In the 5000m run, Sydney O'Brien clocked a time of 17:45.48.
Aaliah Herron earned a mark of 14.12m in women's weight throw.
The Meyo Invitational resumes Saturday at 8:45 a.m. CT.

The Redhawks also sent several athletes to compete in Carbondale, Illinois this weekend.
Sierra Maddox placed fifth in women's pole vault with a final height of 3.56m. Haley Holten and Jacqueline Jeschka also competed, earning marks of 3.52m and 3.05m respectively.
Dylan Rush finished seventh in men's pole vault with a height of 4.60m.
Taylor Coffelt and Macy Ritter will continue their efforts in the women's pentathlon tomorrow. Coffelt currently has four first-place finishes in the competition.
Christopher Davis and Duncan Ross will also finish the men's heptathlon at tomorrow's event conclusion.
