Men Third, Women Fifth After Day One of OVC Championships

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Southeast Missouri's men's team is third and the women are fifth after the opening day of competition at the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships.
Southeast's men's team accumulated 33 points through five scored events, while the women tallied 23 in six events.
Taylor Coffelt began the day with a third-place finish in the women's pentathlon (3532 points). During the 800m dash, Coffelt established a new personal record at 2:29:13. Macy Ritter also competed in the event, placing sixth with 3270 points.
After four events, Christopher Davis stands third (2672) and Duncan Ross is seventh (2290) in the men's heptathlon.
In other competition, Mikayla Logan took fourth in long jump with a distance of 5.73m.
Jacob Kent captured second in the long jump, leaping a personal best 7.41m. Chris Martin also saw action in the event, posting 7.06m for sixth place. Kent earned a height of 1.98m to take fifth in the high jump, as well.
Chante Mosby recorded a season-best high jump mark of 1.68m, claiming sixth.
In the weight throw, Stephen Zagurski and Jason Walker were third (16.88m) and fourth (16.83m), respectively.
Marc Maton ran a 15:12.15 to take seventh in the 5000m
Sydney O'Brien was able to finish her 5000m run in 18:38.08 to take seventh.
Miya Dorsey, Megan Parks, Kaitlyn Shea and Angela Sumner clocked a distance medley time of 12:19.49 en route to a fifth-place showing.
Jordan Brown, Cole Davis, Kameron Long and Maton secured fourth in the distance medley with a time of 10:47.79.
During the preliminary races, Long qualified for the men's 800m final taking third with a time of 1:52.70. Brown also qualified with a 1:53.79.
Jarred Pasley (48.85), Jordan Barber (49.09) and Brandon Chunn (49.22) registered the top three times in the 400m prelims.
Pasley ran again in the 200m and advanced to the finals as his time of 21.88 was good for second place.
Martin returned to run the 55m dash, setting a new personal record at 6.53 seconds to place sixth overall.
On the women's side, Parks ran a season-best time of 2:13.84 in her 800m heat, taking second.
Cheyanne Tunti and Dorsey moved on to the 400m finals after placing fourth (57.14) and eighth (57.85), respectively. Tunti also qualified in the 200m dash, finishing seventh in 25.09 seconds.
Mariam Ajiroba was the lone Redhawk to earn a finals spot in the women's 55m. Ajiroba's mark of 7.09 seconds was a personal best.
The OVC Indoor Championships resume Saturday at 9 a.m., CT.
