Upcoming Meet
Southeast Missouri's men's and women's track and field teams compete in the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships this weekend. The two-day event, hosted by Tennessee State, is scheduled for Friday-Saturday, Feb. 26-27. Last year, Southeast's men's team won the OVC indoor title, while the women finished third.
Record Breakers
Several Redhawks have set new school records this indoor season. Most recently, Marc Maton and Megan Parks established new 1000m indoor records. Maton's time of 2:26.25 broke the original time of 2:27.60 set by Paul Stemmerman in 2009. Parks finished in 2:53.33, surpassing Janelle Quigley's time of 2:56.70 set in 1998.
Christian Locke's pole vault height of 5.20m (17'0.75") broke Jaret Willi's school record set in 2002 (16'11.5"). Locke's effort increases his OVC lead while ranking him 45th in the nation.
Earlier this season, both men's and women's teams set new distance medley records, as well. Jordan Brown, Cole Davis, Kameron Long and Maton recently earned a school record-breaking time of 9:55.52 in the distance medley. Their time ranks first in the conference and 35th nationally. The women's distance medley team of Kaitlyn Shea, Parks, Miya Dorsey and Angela Sumner set a school record during that same weekend, securing a third-best conference time of 11:58.34
