CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri basketball (5-23, 2-13 OVC) fell to Eastern Illinois (12-16, 8-7 OVC) in Saturday's home finale at the Show Me Center.

Senior Isiah Jones was honored before the game during Senior Day festivities. Jones finished the game with 11 points, three rebounds, dished out three assists, and added three steals.

Joel Angus III recorded his first double-double in a Redhawk uniform Saturday with 13 points and tying a season-high 13 rebounds.

Down seven, Southeast put together a 12-0 run to take its first lead a little over nine minutes into the game.

Antonius Cleveland scored seven of his 10 first-half points to key the stretch as EIU went scoreless for 5:42. Trey Kellum capped the surge with a jumper, giving the Redhawks a 17-12 advantage with 10:52 left to play.

EIU regained the lead when Cornell Johnston and Demetrius McReynolds each buried a 3-pointer. McReynolds' make put the Panthers ahead, 22-20, with 6:43 remaining.

The Redhawks and Panthers traded baskets in the last five minutes with EIU taking a 30-29 edge at the half. Southeast trailed at halftime for the 23rd time this season.

Casey Teson scored eight points in a quick 2:19 to lift EIU to a double-digit lead with 12:54 remaining in the second half. Teson buried two 3-pointers and knocked down a jumper to widen the Panthers margin to 50-38.

Teson, after shooting just 1-of-5 from the field in the first half, made four-straight field goals and scored 11 points to help EIU outscore.

Teson's 3-pointer upped the Panthers lead to 64-48 with 7:18 on the clock, but the Redhawks weren't finished.

Southeast answered with a 13-2 run and managed to get to within five points when Jones made a jumper to make it 66-61 at the 1:34 mark.

Another jumper by Jones, this time a 3-pointer, and a jumper by Angus III sliced EIU's lead to 69-66 with 20 seconds remaining.

Southeast had an opportunity to tie the game after McReynolds missed two free throws six seconds later, but Jones' 3-pointer came off the rim. McReynolds rebounded Jones' miss, was fouled and sunk both his free throws to secure the 71-68 victory.

Cleveland finished with a team-best 14 points in the game. He added six rebounds to complement his 14 points. Kellum was the fourth Redhawk to score double-figure points with 11.

Southeast outrebounded the Panthers, 43-36, and shot 38.5% from the field in the game.
