CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. -- Junior guard
Antonius Cleveland went over 1,000 career points, as Southeast Missouri (5-24, 2-14) ended its season with an 83-75 loss to Austin Peay (14-17, 7-9) Saturday.
Cleveland, who had a game-high 24 points, officially eclipsed 1,000 points when he threw down a dunk to tie the game at 55-55 with 9:48 remaining in the game. He is the fourth different Southeast player to score over 1,000 career points since 2012-13.
"It's a great feeling and it's one of the biggest accomplishments of my life so far," said Cleveland. "I am going to continue to get better and help our team as we move forward."
Southeast was ahead, 51-45, at the 14:18 mark of the second half when APSU rallied.
Kenny Jones buried a jumper to kickstart a 10-2 run and the Governors took their first second-half lead (55-53) on a Khalil Davis dunk with 10:21 left.
The Redhawks battled back to take a 63-58 lead after
Trey Kellum made two free throws.
Davis later drained a 3-pointer and APSU pulled away for good.
The Governors outscored Southeast, 16-8, in the final 3:49 and made five free throws in the last minute to finish off the win.
Southeast shot a red-hot 56.7 percent (17-of-30) from the field in the first half and led, 42-38, at the half. It was the Redhawks best first-half field goal percentage in conference play this season.
Cleveland shot 10-of-18 from the field and 3-of-4 at the free throw line, picking up his team-high seventh 20-point game for the year. He also had two steals, dished out four assists and did not have a turnover in 37 minutes. Cleveland closed out the season strong, scoring double figures in 10-straight games.
Joel Angus III followed with a career-high 19 points. Angus led the Redhawks with eight rebounds, as well.
Isiah Jones and Kellum added 13 and 10 points, respectively. Jones played his final game at Southeast.
The Redhawks shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) for the game, while APSU shot 53.4 percent (31-of-58). Additionally, Southeast committed 16 turnovers.
Josh Robinson led APSU with 18 points and Chris Horton had 17 points and nine rebounds.
