League Play ContinuesSoutheast is back in action when it visits Eastern Kentucky, its fourth Ohio Valley Conference East Division foe. The Redhawks are 0-3 to start league play for the second time in three years. Most recently, Southeast surrendered a season-high 96 points in a 96-69 loss at Morehead State (Jan. 7). It matched the Redhawks second-largest loss this year.
Series HistoryEastern Kentucky owns a 28-16 lead in its all-time series against Southeast. The Redhawks have not beaten EKU in three years and are on a five-game losing skid against the Colonels. Southeast last defeated EKU at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in 2011-12 (75-65). The Redhawks last win in Richmond came during the 2007-08 season, but that victory was vacated due to NCAA infractions.
Last Time at Eastern KentuckySoutheast lost a heartbreaker the last time it played at Eastern Kentucky on Feb. 1, 2014. Glenn Cosey banked in the game-winning 3-pointer with one second left to help the Colonels escape with a 79-78 victory. EKU wiped out a 10-point deficit in the final 3:57 as Cosey's only field goal of the second half beat the Redhawks.
OVC UpdateEastern Kentucky is the third Ohio Valley Conference team with 10 or more wins that the Redhawks square off against in league play. Southeast lost to Belmont (92-82, Dec. 31) and Tennessee State (72-66, Jan. 2) at home and Morehead State (96-69, Jan. 7) on the road. There are a combined 31 wins between TSU (11), Belmont (10) and EKU (10) this season.
Redhawk RewindSoutheast fell victim to a 16-2 run in the first 4:40 of the game and never recovered in a 96-69 loss at Morehead State Thursday. MSU forced 19 turnovers and posted 14 steals, while shooting 54.7 percent (41-of-75) from the field. The Eagles scored 26 of their points on second chance opportunities and another 27 off turnovers. MSU led by as many as 37 points before nailing down its first conference win.
100 in ReachIsiah Jones is just five 3-pointers away and one assist from reaching 100 in his career. Jones is currently 95-of-250 (.380) from 3-point range in his two-year Southeast career. He made two or more treys in seven of his last eight starts.
Season-Best Free Throw MarkAfter shooting no better than 76.2 percent at the free throw line in its first 14 games, Southeast established a season-high in free throw percentage at Morehead State (Jan. 7). The Redhawks made 19-of-23 free throws for 82.6 percent and did not miss at the charity stripe in the first half (8-of-8).

Double TimeAntonius Cleveland and
Joel Angus III each contributed a double-double against Tennessee State (Jan. 2). Cleveland scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 37 minutes, while Angus followed with 13 points and a game-high 13 boards in 35 minutes. It marked the first time this season and first since Feb. 7, 2015 (Cleveland, 10 pts., 12 reb.;
Nino Johnson, 10 pts., 10 reb., vs. Eastern Illinois) where two Redhawks had a double-double.
Road to 1,000Junior
Antonius Cleveland currently has 832 points in his Southeast career. Cleveland is 168 away from getting 1,000 points. He is averaging a team-high 14.6 points per game with double figures in 12 of his 14 starts this year. The Redhawks had a player join the 1,000-point club in three-straight seasons.
Jarekious Bradley officially hit that mark in 2014-15 (vs. Austin Peay on Feb. 28), Tyler Stone did it in 2013-14 (vs. Ball State on Nov. 18) and Marland Smith accomplished the feat in 2012-13 (vs. UT Martin on Feb. 9). Stone and Smith were in the third year of their Southeast careers when they went over 1,000 points.
Cleveland is RollingAntonius Cleveland registered a double-double in three of his last five starts. Most recently, Cleveland scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Tennessee State (Jan. 2). He ranks tied for fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with three double-doubles and three 20-point games this season.
Seven and CountingAntonius Cleveland has scored double figures in seven-straight games, the longest double-digit game scoring streak of his career. Cleveland scored 20 or more points three times and turned in a double-double on three occasions in that span. He lifted his scoring average from 13.4 to a team-high 14.6 points per game since Dec. 12.
Anderson Gets Season-HighReserve
Tony Anderson scored double figures for the first time in his career when he dropped in 10 points in 20 minutes at Morehead State (Jan. 7). Anderson made 4-of-8 field goals and 2-of-4 free throws, while matching his season-best six rebounds.
About Eastern KentuckyEastern Kentucky saw a two-game winning streak end with a 78-70 loss to UT Martin in Richmond Thursday. The loss marked EKU's first at home this season as the Colonels are now 8-1 at McBrayer Arena. EKU has the Ohio Valley Conference's top scorer in Jarelle Reischel who is averaging 20.1 points per game. Reischel, a transfer from Rhode Island, is the only player in the country with over 300 points, 100 rebounds and 50 assists this season. Javontae Hawkins is also among the league's top five scorers, ranking fourth with 17.5 points per contest. Isaac McGlone stands atop the OVC in 3-point field goal percentage connecting on 23-of-48 shots for 47.9 percent. As a team, EKU is the conference's best shooting club, making 49.3 percent of its attempts from the field and 40 percent of its shots beyond the arc. The Colonels also average 82.2 points per game, second-most in the OVC behind Belmont (82.4 ppg).
