Women’s Basketball Announces 2015-16 Schedule

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — First-year head coach Rekha Patterson has announced Southeast Missouri's 2015-16 women's basketball schedule. The schedule will feature 15 total games in the newly renovated Show Me Center.

The Show Me Center underwent an extensive renovation over the summer which included a new center-hung video board, all-new telescopic seating, as well as improvements to the lighting and sound systems. 

The 29-game regular-season schedule features 13 home games and 16 road games. Southeast will play eight Ohio Valley Conference games at home and the other eight on the road. 

The Redhawks have lined up a competitive non-conference schedule. The season will tip off at Saint Louis University on Nov. 14 before playing Harris-Stowe in the home opener on Nov. 16. 

The season continues with a game at Alabama A&M (Nov. 18) and a home game against Missouri-Kansas City (Nov. 20). 

The Redhawks will hit the road for a six-game road swing spanning two weeks and five different states. The road trip begins at Western Illinois on Nov. 24. 

The Redhawks will take part in the Texas-El Paso Thanksgiving Classic over Thanksgiving weekend. The Redhawks will play Idaho State to open tournament play on Friday, Nov. 27. Southeast will play either host UTEP or UC Riverside in the second game of the tournament the following day.

Southeast will continue the road swing with a games at Missouri (Dec. 2), at Wichita State (Dec. 4), and Lipscomb (Dec. 8).

The Redhawks will return home for a five-game home stand, their longest of the season, beginning Dec. 13 against Central Arkansas. The Redhawks welcome regional rival Southern Illinois to the Show Me Center on Dec. 22. After a break for the holiday, William Woods comes to town on Dec. 30 for a final tune-up before OVC play begins.

The OVC slate will begin New Year's Eve when the Belmont Bruins come to Cape Girardeau.

The seven other conference home games include Tennessee State (Jan. 2), Jacksonville State (Jan. 13), UT Martin (Jan. 23), Austin Peay (Jan. 30), Murray State (Feb. 3), Eastern Illinois (Feb. 20), and SIUE (Feb. 24). 

The annual Hall of Fame game will be Feb. 20 when the Redhawks take on Eastern Illinois. 

The rest of the Redhawks conference schedule includes trips to Morehead State (Jan. 7), Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 9), Tennessee Tech (Jan. 16), SIUE (Jan. 20), Eastern Illinois (Feb. 6), UT Martin (Feb. 10), Murray State (Feb. 13), and Austin Peay (Feb. 27).

Fans can get their first look at the Redhawks women's team with a pair of exhibition games, both at Show Me Center. The Redhawks welcome Oakland City on Nov. 1 and Lindenwood-Belleville on Nov. 4.

The 2016 OVC Women's Basketball Tournament will return to the Nashville Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee this year. The women's tournament will run from March 2-5. 

Fans can view all regular-season home and conference games for free on the OVC Digital Network and listen to broadcasts on SEMO ESPN 1220 AM.
