Redhawks Head to Austin Peay
Southeast Missouri (16-25, 9-12) heads to Austin Peay (9-34, 5-19) for its final series this weekend. The Redhawks and Governors play a Noon, CT, doubleheader Saturday and a single game at Noon Sunday.

What's the Scenario?
Southeast enters its final weekend of the regular season with Ohio Valley Conference Tournament implications on the line. The Redhawks can clinch a spot in next week's eight-team tournament if they finish a game ahead of UT Martin this weekend. If the Redhawks sweep Austin Peay and UT Martin loses one to Murray State, they are in; If the Redhawks lose one game against Austin Peay and UT Martin loses two games against Murray State, they are in; If the Redhawks lose two games against Austin Peay and UT Martin is swept by Murray State, they are in. If both Southeast and UT Martin are tied at 12-12 (meaning both teams sweep their final series), UT Martin would make the tournament because it went 3-0 vs. Murray State and Southeast went 0-3 against Murray State. The Redhawks could finish as high as sixth in the OVC standings if they sweep Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois is swept by SIUE and Morehead State is swept by Tennessee Tech. Southeast last made the OVC Tournament in 2011.

April is Over
The Redhawks closed out April with a doubleheader split at SEC member Arkansas (Apr. 29). Southeast went 10-7 in April, its best record in any month this season. The Redhawks have won five of their last seven games.

Series History
Southeast is 58-18 all-time against Austin Peay during its NCAA Division I era (since 1992). The Redhawks recorded series wins against the Governors in two of the last four years. However, APSU took the series each of the last two seasons.

Do It Again
The Redhawks go for their second-straight series win when they visit Austin Peay this weekend. Southeast took two of three against Eastern Illinois (Apr. 25-26) in Cape Girardeau. All three of the Redhawks series victories this season have come in April.

Nice Improvement
The Redhawks have a +5 increase in the win column this season after getting just 11 victories in 2014. Southeast's 16 victories surpassed its win total from each of the last two seasons (11 in 2014; 15 in 2013). The nine Ohio Valley Conference victories also match the Redhawks conference win total in the previous two years combined (9).

Last Time Out
Southeast split a doubleheader with Arkansas in its final non-conference series Wednesday. The Redhawks dropped game one, 13-5, before rallying to win the nightcap, 4-3, in extra innings. Southeast earned its first win over an SEC opponent since 2007. In addition, the Redhawks went 7-13 against non-league foes this year.

More Records in Sight
Kayla Fortner needs four RBI to break Southeast's all-time single-season record. Fortner leads the team and ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference with 45 runs batted in. Renee Kertz presently holds the record with 48 RBIs in 2011. Fortner is 13 total bases away from breaking that single-season record, held by Michelle Summers (114 total bases, 2008). And, she needs nine more runs to pass Kim Palmer (48 runs, 1998) for the school's all-time single-season record in runs scored. Fortner already broke Southeast's single-season records in home runs (16) and walks (35).

Finish Strong
Southeast is looking to end its 2015 regular season with a series win at Austin Peay. The last time the Redhawks ended a season with a series victory was 2012 when they swept Belmont in a doubleheader.

Fortner Breaks Single-Game Record
In her first at-bat of the Eastern Illinois series, outfielder Kayla Fortner broke Southeast's all-time single-season home run record. Fortner homered twice in the Redhawks doubleheader sweep of the Panthers on Apr. 25. She leads the Ohio Valley Conference with 16 home runs in 41 starts this year. Michelle Summers held the previous record with 14 home runs in 2007.

Getting On Base
Kayla Fortner has reached base in 11 consecutive games. Fortner also scored at least one run in 12 of her last 13 starts. Her current streak is second only to her team-best stretch of 14-straight games where she got on base.

Now Appearing
Freshman Madeline Krumrey went 3-1 with a shutout, two complete game victories, a save and 24 strikeouts in her last five appearances. Krumrey tossed her second complete game shutout of the season when she gave up just four hits and struck out five in seven innings against Eastern Illinois (Apr. 25). She tied a single-season high nine strikeouts in 5.2 innings during her other start against the Panthers on Apr. 26. Most recently, Krumrey worked eight innings to beat Arkansas (Apr. 29). She leads the Redhawks in ERA (3.51), appearances (27), starts (22), wins (11), complete games (13), shutouts (2), saves (1), innings pitched (153.2) and strikeouts (80) this year.

Going the Distance
Madeline Krumrey is one of six Ohio Valley Conference pitchers with 13 or more complete games this season. Tennessee Tech's Danielle Liberatore tops the conference with 19 complete games, while SIUE's Haley Chambers (17), UT Martin's Elizabeth Wiegand (15), Morehead State's Mackenzie Grossman (14), Krumrey and Eastern Illinois' Jessica Wireman follow. Krumrey is third in the OVC in innings pitched (153.2).

Record Day
Southeast tied an Ohio Valley Conference record when it hit six home runs in game two  of its doubleheader against Eastern Illinois (Apr. 25). In all, five different players hit long balls in that game, including Kayla Fortner, Savannah Carpenter (2), Lindsey Patterson, Riley Hayes and Darby Pruett. The six home runs were not only a single-game team record for Southeast, but they tied for fifth-most in a game in NCAA Division I softball. The Redhawks homered three times in two different innings, and as a result, tied the third-most total of round-trippers in an inning for NCAA Division I.

Speaking of Home Runs
Southeast has homered in seven of its last nine games, hitting a total of 13 in that span. The Redhawks went seven-straight games with a home run before that streak ended at Arkansas (Apr. 29). It was Southeast's longest streak of consecutive games with a home run since the Redhawks homered six contests in a row from Mar. 13-23, 2013.

Lineup Switch
After starting her first 36 games in the outfield, freshman Taylor McDannold made her first career start at shortstop against Eastern Illinois (Apr. 25). McDannold has 33 starts in left field, three in right and five at shortstop this season. She had six putouts and six assists, and committed one error in her first five starts at short.

Home Run Hayes
Freshman catcher Riley Hayes hit a home run in four of her last seven games. Hayes homered for the first time in her career when she belted a three-run round-tripper to ignite Southeast's 5-4 come-from-behind win over Saint Louis (Apr. 22). She then hit a solo home run against Tennessee State (Apr. 23) and added two more against Eastern Illinois (Apr. 25). Hayes and Kayla Fortner are the only Redhawks to hit a homer in four-straight games this season.

100th Start
Third baseman Savannah Carpenter made her 100th career start in game one of Southeast's doubleheader at Arkansas (Apr. 29). Carpenter has a total of 101 starts in her three-year career. Lindsey Patterson (176), Chelsea Smith (107) and Carpenter are the three active Redhawks with more than 100 career starts.

Carpenter and Patterson Boost Redhawks
Savannah Carpenter and Lindsey Patterson combined for 17 hits, 11 runs scored, two doubles, four home runs and 13 RBI in six games for Southeast last week. Carpenter hit .500 with a .889 slugging percentage and .550 on-base percentage, while Patterson followed with a .444 clip, .833 slugging percentage and .474 on-base percentage. Patterson has hit safely in five of her last six starts.

League Leader
Kayla Fortner leads the Ohio Valley Conference in slugging percentage (.894), on-base percentage (.536), home runs (16) and walks (35). Fortner is also second in the conference in batting average (.398) and RBI (45), and third in total bases (101). She is among the top 20 in the nation in home runs per game (14th), walks (14th) and slugging percentage (17th).

Yard Work
The Redhawks have homered in 24 games and have a total of 36 through 41 contests this season. The 36 home runs are Southeast's most in a season since 2008 (40). Kayla Fortner and Lindsey Patterson are the Redhawks top home run threats with 16 and seven, respectively.

Climbing the Charts
Starting first baseman Lindsey Patterson ranks third on Southeast's all-time career home run list. Patterson has 23 homers in her four-year career and surpassed Kim Palmer (20, 1996-98) for the third-place spot. Michelle Summers (48, 2005-08) and Megan McDonald (31, 2005-08) rank ahead of Patterson.

Southeast Fourth in Hitting
Southeast is fourth in the Ohio Valley Conference with a .285 batting average through 41 games this season. The Redhawks have pounded out double-digit hits 11 times, with a season-high 18 at Grambling State (Feb. 15). The Redhawks rank behind Murray State (.318), Jacksonville State (.309) and SIU Edwardsville (.287).

Over .300
The Redhawks have four starters hitting over .300. Kayla Fortner leads that group with a .398 clip, while Lindsey Patterson (.353), Savannah Carpenter (.323) and Taylor McDannold (.301) follow. Fortner, Patterson, Carpenter and McDannold have started every game this season.

About Austin Peay
Austin Peay is one of three teams eliminated from making this year's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament, joining Belmont and Tennessee State. APSU has the fewest wins (9) and second-most losses (34) in the OVC this year. The Governors are last in the league in pitching with a 7.20 ERA. APSU dropped 13 of its last 14 games and is 3-15 this month alone.
