Game 2 Live StatsCAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri (11-22) continues its lengthy homestand when it hosts regional-rival Saint Louis (28-15) in a doubleheader Wednesday. First pitch is set for 4 p.m., CT, at the Southeast Softball Complex.
Wednesday is Southeast's Cancer Awareness matchup. Anyone affected by cancer is encouraged to wear the appropriate color associated with that specific type of cancer. Southeast will wear special white jerseys with pink lettering to support breast cancer awareness. Greek Day is also a part of this midweek doubleheader. The fraternity or sorority with the largest attendance at the game can win up to $250 for their philanthropy.
Southeast enters the week coming off a doubleheader split with Morehead State. Each team pitched a one-hitter, with the Redhawks taking game one, 1-0, and the Eagles winning the nightcap, 3-1. Outfielder
Kayla Fortner is second in the Ohio Valley Conference in batting average (.413), RBIs (38) and home runs (13). Fortner needs just two more homers to break Southeast's all-time single-season record, currently held by Michelle Summers (14, 2007). Pitching wise, freshman
Madeline Krumrey has worked six or more innings in 10 of her last 11 starts. Most recently, Krumrey pitched the first shutout of her career when she went the distance against Morehead State (Apr. 18).
Meanwhile, SLU is second in the Atlantic 10 Conference behind Dayton. The Billikens 28 victories are second-most in the league. Statistically, SLU is third in the A-10 in both batting average (.297) and ERA (3.41). Alex Nickel is the Billikens top threat, hitting .437 through 43 games. Nickel is the A-10's second-leading hitter. Allie Macfarlane (42) and Lindsay Friedman (38) are also first and second in the league in RBI, respectively.
Southeast is 3-8 in midweek games this season.
