There's No Place Like Home
Southeast Missouri (6-4) women's basketball will open a five-game homestand Sunday when they host Central Arkansas (5-1). The Redhawks and Sugar Bears tipoff at 2 p.m. from the Show Me Center. The Redhawks' five-game homestand is the longest of the 2015-16 season.
 
Follow the Redhawks
Tuesday's game will be broadcast live on SEMO ESPN 1220 AM. Erik Sean will provide play-by-play on the broadcast. Sean will be joined by Jess Bolen who will provide analysis. Free Kids Clinic
The Redhawks will be hosting a free youth clinic following Sunday's game. The clinic is part of the Academy Sports + Outdoors Clinic Series. The clinic is open to kids in sixth grade and younger. Additionally, kids ages 14 and under will receive free admission to Sunday's game.
 
Series History
Southeast Missouri leads the all-time series 4-2. The series dates back to Jan. 3, 1987. Last season, Southeast used a 9-1 run over the final 3:11 to defeat Central Arkansas, 48-46, on the road.
 
Let's Recap
Southeast Missouri ended its six-game road swing with a pair of wins in their last two games. The Redhawks defeated Wichita State in an overtime thriller on Dec. 4, 66-62. Southeast followed it up with a win at Lipscomb on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 84-69. Southeast tied a season-high with five players posting double-digit points games, led by Deja Jones' first double-double performance with a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jones celebrated her 20th birthday on Tuesday in her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Imani Johnson finished behind Jones with a new career-high 18 points. Hannah Noe picked up 15 points on five 3-pointers, both career-best marks for the sophomore. Bri Mitchell tallied 12 points while Erin Bollmann had 11. As a team, Southeast scored a season-high 46 points in the paint. The Redhawks shot 34-of-66 (51.5%) from the field, almost a season-high. Southeast's 34 field goals were a season-high for the team.
 
Looking at the Central Arkansas Sugar Bears
Central Arkansas won its fourth straight game on Thursday, ending its three-game homestand with a 93-38 victory over Crowley's Ridge College. The Sugar Bears have played Ohio Valley Conference opponent Murray State twice in a home-and-home this season, winning both contests. Maggie Proffitt is the Bears' leading scorer this season with 10.8 points a game. Raquel Logan is the team's leading rebounder with 9.3 board per game. Central Arkansas is averaging 12 points per game more than their opponents and are shooting 39% from the field.
 
Looking Ahead
The Redhawks will take finals week off from competition and will return to action on Dec. 22 when they host Southern Illinois. Tipoff against the Salukis is slated for 12 p.m. The Redhawks will close out their non-conference schedule after the Christmas holiday on Dec. 30 against William Woods.
 
Hackmann Out Indefinitely
Senior guard Olivia Hackmann, Southeast's leading scorer, is out indefinitely due to a Jones Fracture in her right foot.
 
Painting the Court Red
The Redhawks are averaging almost 30 points in the paint this season with 29.8 per game. On Tuesday at Lipscomb, Southeast tied a season-high 46 points in the paint against the Bison. The Redhawks put up 46 in the paint at Alabama A&M on Nov. 18. Southeast's opponents average 28.4 in the paint.
 
Hot off the Bench
The Redhawks bench has been big this season, putting up 26.7 points per game. The bench has scored almost 40% of the team's points this season. Top bench performers include Hannah Noe who has come off the bench and drained a team-high 18 3-point buckets this season. Redshirt-freshman Imani Johnson has also come off the bench this season. Johnson is averaging 7.8 points and 4.3 boards a game.
 
Robbing the Opponent
The Redhawks have picked up a knack for stealing the ball. The Redhawks' 79 steals ranks 79th nationally. Erin Bollmann is the Redhawks' steals leader with 26 this season, good enough for 18th in the country. Bollmann averages 2.6 steals per game.
 
Lending a Helping Hand
Freshman Adrianna Murphy ranks 48th nationally in assists with 48 on the season. Murphy has 4.8 assists per game, which ranks 67th. She put up 12 in the game against Western Illinois. Murphy's 12 assists in a game was the most since Sarah Costello recorded 10 assists on Feb. 10, 2004. Murphy's 12-assist game is a season-high in the OVC this season and is tied for eighth most in a game in the NCAA.
 
Third Quarter Slump
The third quarter has not been friendly to the Redhawks this season, being outscored 190-147. Southeast averages 14.7 points in the third. In the second half overall, the Redhawks have been outscored by 40 points this season. The Redhawks have outscored their opponent in the third quarter only twice this season (Western Illinois; Wichita State).
