Western IllinoisEmbarking on a Long JourneySoutheast Missouri (3-1) women's basketball looks to extends their winning streak to four games as it begins a six-game road swing Tuesday at Western Illinois (3-1). The Redhawks and Leathernecks will tip off at 11 a.m. Tuesday from Western Hall in Macomb, Illinois.

Series HistorySoutheast leads the all-time series 5-4. Southeast has never won in Macomb, going 0-3 in Western Hall. The Redhawks are 1-2 in their last three meetings dating back to 2012. Southeast has lost their last two games against the Leathernecks, 58-79 and 62-79.
Let's RecapSoutheast Missouri is off to its best start since the 2008-09 season when they opened the season 3-1 through the first four games. The Redhawks widened their winning streak to three games with a win over Missouri-Kansas City on Friday. The Redhawks downed the Roos, 78-65. The Redhawks featured two players in double-digit points. Friday's game is the first this season where the Redhawks did not have three or more players with double-figure points; however, two players finished just short with nine total points. Southeast had eight players with six or more points.
Olivia Hackmann led the Redhawk offense with 16 points, thanks in part to a perfect 8-for-8 performance from the free-throw line. Hackmann's eight made free throws and five assists were career-highs for the senior.
Imani Johnson had a career evening, putting up 12 points on four field goals and four free throws.
Ashton Luttrull also had a career game, putting up nine points in the game. Luttrull was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field including a 3-pointer. Southeast finished the game shooting 15-18 (83.8%) from the charity stripe, a new season-best. Overall, the Redhawks shot 54.7% from the field, also a season-high.
Looking at the Western Illinois LeathernecksWestern Illinois is off to a hot start in the 2015-16 season at 3-1. They rolled past Central Methodist in the season opener, 108-46, and narrowly edged SIUE, 78-74. WIU took Iowa to overtime but fell to the Hawkeyes, 96-81. The Leathernecks improved to a perfect 3-0 at home with an 88-50 win over Chicago State on Saturday. WIU is averaging 88.8 points per game with a very respectable .446 field goal percentage. While the Leathernecks are outscoring their opponents, they average 6.5 less rebounds than their opponents. WIU's leading scorer Taylor Higginbotham averages 19.3 points per game and does so coming off the bench and plays starter minutes.
Looking AheadSoutheast Missouri will fly to El Paso, Texas to take part in the Fifth-Annual UTEP Thanksgiving Classic. Southeast will face off against Idaho State on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Southeast will then face either UTEP or UC Riverside in Friday's game. The Redhawks will begin the month of December with a trip to Missouri and Wichita State.
Lending A Helping HandBri Mitchell and
Adrianna Murphy are tied for sixth in the OVC in assists. Each have 14 assists on the season and average 3.5 per game. Murphy, a freshman, ranks sixth in assist/turnover ratio with a 1.4 mark.
Boards, Boards, BoardsThe Redhawks have three players that rank in the top-10 in the OVC in rebounds.
Erin Bollmann's 8.8 rebounds a game ranks fifth while
Deja Jones' 8.3 rebounding average ranks seventh.
Connor King ranks ninth with her 7.8 boards per game mark.
A Strong Defense... The Redhawks rank high in defensive categories in the OVC. Southeast ranks second in scoring defense, holding opponents to 64 points a game. They also rank second in field goal and 3-point field goal percentage defense as their opponents shoot .360 from the field and .258 from beyond the arc. Southeast also ranks second in rebounding margin, averaging 2.5 rebounds per game more than their opponents. They also rank third in defensive rebounding, averaging 29.5 per game.
