MOREHEAD, Ky. - Morehead State (6-15, 3-3) swept Southeast Missouri (6-16, 1-3) in a doubleheader Sunday at University Field. The Eagles won by scores of 7-6 and 7-4.

Southeast, which was swept in a doubleheader for the third time in five days, let a three-run lead slip away in game one.

The Redhawks got on the board early when Savannah Carpenter singled and came around to score on Leah Duffe's base hit. Rachael Duncan's double down the left field line knocked in both Duffe and Jamie Woodworth to grab Southeast a 3-0 lead in the top of the first.

Kelsey Gass scored on a sacrifice fly by Carpenter to give the Redhawks a 4-1 advantage in the second.

MSU, after slicing Southeast's lead to a run in the bottom of the second, took its first lead when it pushed across four runs in the third. Katie Raile singled to right field and went to second on a bunt single by Samantha Howard. Raile and Howard both scored on a one-out single by Jamie Massaro. The Eagles kept their rally alive with a pair of run-scoring hits with two outs. Lizzy Margagliotti doubled home Nikki Hinkley and Stephanie Etter knocked in Margagliotti on a single to get MSU a 7-4 lead.

Southeast made it a one-run game in the top of the fifth.

Duncan doubled to left center and went to third on Meaghan Touchette's ensuing base hit. Touchette then stole second to give the Redhawks runners at second and third with one out. Chelsea Smith followed with a single allowing Duncan and Touchette to score, dicing the Eagles lead to 7-6.

Southeast had the winning run at the plate in both the sixth and seventh innings, but came up empty.

Keaira Schilling (2-6) took the loss after giving up seven hits and six runs in just 2.1 innings. Schilling struck out two and walked two, as well.

Tanna Seuferer (2-6) picked up the win for MSU. Seuferer worked 4.1 innings, allowing eight hits and six runs. She also walked four and struck out three.

Southeast had 10 hits, its most in a game since Feb. 22. It marked the fourth time this season where the Redhawks had 10 or more hits.

The Redhawks and Eagles dueled to a 4-4 tie after three innings before MSU scored three unearned runs to pull ahead for good.

Etter reached on a fielding error by Summer Burger and Margagliotti scored to break the deadlock in the bottom of the fourth.

An inning later, Etter was safe again, this time with the help of two errors by Duffe. As a result of those miscues, Margagliotti and McKenna Bartko scored with two outs to extend the Eagels lead to 7-4 in the fifth.

Hannah Durham (2-5) was credited with the loss. Durham struck out two, scattered five hits and allowed four runs in 3.2 innings.

Megan Tymorek (4-8) went the distance to get the win for MSU. Tymorek gave up four runs on seven hits and recorded seven strikeouts. She walked four and faced 31 hitters.

Carpenter and Haylee Krack each went 3-for-4 with a home run and a run scored to lead Southeast in the nightcap. Duffe, Duncan and Gass paved the way in game one with two hits apiece.

Southeast returns to Cape Girardeau to host Austin Peay in a three-game series, beginning Mar. 29.
