Southeast Missouri took advantage of a hot start to get by Missouri Valley College Thursday night
Box Score Final Statistics

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Ashton Luttrull scored a game-high 14 points and Southeast Missouri capitalized on a hot start to get by Missouri Valley College, 81-68, Thursday night in exhibition action at the Show Me Center.

Luttrull gave Southeast a nice lift off the bench, scoring all of her points in 16 minutes. The Redhawks also shot a scorching 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the field and buried 8-of-12 (66.7 pct.) three-pointers in the game's opening 20 minutes.

"I was happy with how we played," said Southeast acting head coach Heather Ezell. "I give a lot of credit to Missouri Valley and I was pleased we were able to pull it out. I thought we fell in love with the three in the second half instead of attacking and getting to the basket."

Missouri Valley scored only six points in the first 7:47 of the game and Southeast took advantage, building a 23-7 lead during that stretch. Olivia Hackmann dialed up from long distance and Allyson Bradshaw knocked down a pair of threes to help grab the double-digit lead.

After that, Southeast never let its lead go below double figures even though the Vikings made a late run.

Jasmine Robinson's free throw gave the Redhawks their biggest lead of the night at 58-32 with 17:26 left to play.

Missouri Valley then used a 13-2 run to cut Southeast's lead to 70-60 with 5:50 on the clock. That was as close as the Vikings would get.

Luttrull shot 5-of-9 from the field and 4-of-6 from three-point range. She also had two assists, two rebounds and a steal.

Yelena Rosado and Robinson followed with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Rosado added a game-high six assists, as well.

Erin Bollman had a big night on the boards, pulling down nine rebounds, including four on the offensive end. Bollman's effort helped Southeast outrebound the Vikings, 47-40.

The Redhawks strong first half loomed large in the end as Missouri Valley outscored Southeast, 37-28, in the final period.

Additionally, Southeast cooled off from behind the arc, going just 1-of-10 in the second half.

Rayna Smith led all Viking scorers with 13 points and Kieanna Wharton contributed a double-double 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Southeast tips off its 2014-15 season at home against Alabama A&M on Nov. 14. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m., CT, at the Show Me Center.
