Redhawks Take on Cougars in Dual Meet Saturday

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southeast Missouri indoor track and field teams will return to action Saturday when they head north for a dual meet with the SIUE Cougars.
Saturday's events are slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. with the field events. Running events are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. and are expected to wrap up around 3:30.
The meet will be held at Principia College in Eslah, Ill., about thirty miles northwest of Edwardsville.
The Redhawks last competed well over a month ago on Dec. 7, opening the 2013-14 season at Southern Illinois at the Saluki Fast Start.
The Redhawks walked away with four event titles, two of which belonging to Blake Smith in the long jump and 60 meter dash.
Kevin Farley was named the first 2013-14 Male Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 15. Farley took third in the weight throw with a toss of 61'0.25" while earning fourth in the shot put with a mark of 57'07.00" Both marks are the best in the OVC so far this season.
As for the Cougars, juniors Braxton Klavins and Jatavia Wright both earned OVC Athlete of the Week honors after impressive performances at the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb., last weekend.
